Theres quite a bit of speculation coming from The Reference Frame blog. Its doubtful that he obtained training to be capable of what he did as a civilian in China. AFAIK, only soldiers are capable of doing what he did the way he did it.Nope. Soldiers aren't cold blooded killers. You're thinking of terrorists.

Oh? Were you trained to kill with a lot of anger or other emotion? ...or only after considering the enemy's feelings first? You won't convince any good bravo of that--not even a has-been. US combat soldiers are trained to kill while focusing only on the problem of killing efficiently. Well trained soldiers are generally less likely to be emotional than are terrorists (known as guerrillas in less PC years). Strong emotions cause errors in judgement and aim.
