State sues S.B. County over global warming

SAN BERNARDINO Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. filed a lawsuit Friday against the county of San Bernardinos recently-updated general plan because it did not properly address global warming.
The lawsuit came just two days after a similar lawsuit was filed by the Center for Biological Diversity, the San Bernardino Audubon Society and the Sierra Club.
Brown filed the lawsuit under the California Environmental Quality Act on the basis that San Bernardino County failed to evaluate and disclose the impending impacts of the plan on climate change and air quality.
This is a tremendously important action by the attorney general, said Adam Keats, attorney for the Center for Biological Diversity.
First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt questioned the value of the state suing the county.
If this is true, I would suggest that the state of California should be helping local governments build infrastructure and protect citizens from crime instead of suing us over what is at best a federal environmental issue, Mitzelfelt said Friday. In my opinion the attorney generals comments were adequately addressed in the General Plan update.
During the plans development, the attorney general along with the conservation groups had submitted comments that urged the county to analyze greenhouse gases and climate change in its blueprint for the future.
According to a press release sent out by the Center for Biological Diversity, the county chose to ignore the comments.
Mike Zischke, an attorney that specializes in the Environmental Quality Act and is working with county counsel, said the countys position is solid and they will defend the General Plan.
I am not sure if you agree or disagree.
That is the wonderful problem of quick typing and short thinking.
Water is a problem. Water storage is a problem. Population demand on Water is a problem. The problem (water) is becoming critical. I remember the 1977 drought. Don’t flush, don’t bathe, don’t wash clothes. Don’t water the garden. OH, I remember.
Eminent Domain via stealth...
They’re wanting my county, FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD...

For the life of me all I see there is “Professional Gov’t trough feeder” in that title!
This is precisely what you advocated. The "needs of the state" being the "investment" you call "capitalism." Leftists differ only in deeming that "investment" to be welfare of various sorts. In either case, it's government taking the money and deciding which "investment" is more beneficial to the people in power, the government itself.
Glad to clarify it for you.
Enriching political supporters through legislation "so that their contributors can cash in ( as you put it ) " would not be Fascism.
Sure it would. The STATE confiscates the money. The STATE determines which supporters get the money. The STATE does that to perpetuate the power of those in control of THE STATE.
Love the way you toss out the meaningless phrase "does not optimize..." as if the government EVER optimises anything... LOL
Which is why the fascist political corruption with which you are so enomoured is destructive to wealth and is in no way "capitalist."
This would hit the high desert, which is the most rapidly expanding area in all of California right now.
This is crap, and your ignorance is astounding. San Bernadino county is "red" and the fastest growing region in California and one of the fastest growing the the U.S. They are suing to prevent us from becoming larger and more politically powerful, while the blue areas of California shrink and their influence declines.
“I remember the 1977 drought. Dont flush, dont bathe, dont wash clothes. Dont water the garden. OH, I remember.”
... and if you did flush, bathe, washed or watered you simply paid a higher price for it.
The market adjusts.
“This is precisely what you advocated.”
LOL You first say that Democrat supporters of Arnold are somehow going to “cash in” - now that has somehow morfed into the “state” collecting that income for it’s own uses.
Let me remind you what you said - “.. Democrats have made real estate investments and want the power to call the shots about where people get to build so that their contributors can cash in on the shortages. “
Acording to Carry_Okie it is the contributors who do the “cashing in”, not the state, and that “cashing in” would NOT come from state coffers. It has to come from willing buyers in the private sector who feel it is worth the money.
Further, any such “cashing in” would presume that the buyer is NOT part of the party, otherwise there is no effective gain. ( transfer of land from brother to brother does not give a family an increase )
Anybody remember the slogan of the times, "If it's yellow, it's mellow, if it's brown, flush it down?"
Are you local to Victorville? Because I just had the scary thought that this idiot is going to try to shut down the rail hub that’s going in by SCLA.
ROFLOL!!
“Didnt he used smoke pot and have sex with Linda Ronstadt?”
No way as far as Ronstadt, he’s a queer and she’s a lezzie, a perfect match to con the public.
Worse than that, he’s a child molester. When his old man was Gov. he was booked in the Sierra Madre Sheriffs station by a close friend of mine that was the desk sargent that night and his old man not only had him released but the record expunged.
No new taxes, just steal your ahortfall from the Counties!
The new socialist plan.
You can say that of a lot of people, including me!
BOHICA!
Yes. He couldn’t pronounce Poochigian so he decided Brown was better. I couldn’t wrap my head around that position!

First of all, I was just having a little fun.
Second of all, I responded and apologized to my first response from Omega Man II in post 16 a whole 30 posts and more than 12 hours before your comment.
I'll admit I had no idea it was a Republican area and say that is obviously their motive. Thus this is a bad thing. I'll also have some class and refrain from returning the insult.
Calling one ignorant is not an insult. I for example am amazingly ignorant of nuclear physics, plumbing, and a great many things.
You are ignorant of California politics.
To be ignorant simply means to be “uninformed” or “lacking in knowledge.” I did not mean it in the pejorative.
Thanks. It was the "astounding" part that made me believe it was an insult, as if I was supposed to know.
It's funny how written words can have a different feel and connotation than a verbal conversation with the same words. Anyhow, no hard feelings.
