ABC saying 30 dead now.

And the gunman is dead? How unfortunate that murderers can't radio back from hell and describe their torment. Screams of agony and despair would be a great deterrent. Not to mention the impact if the screamer was Muslim....

News coming out...unconfirmed...that shooter lined up people against the wall and executed them.

Must have had a semi-automatic weapon, right?

How could somebody stay still if he only had a handgun?

We considered it, but by the time it would have processed out through the courts, we would have spent the entire $800K on lawyer fees and temp building costs.

It is a lot more sensible, stewardship-wise, to wipe the dust off our sandals.

Do I want abortion to be illegal?

I guess that depends on your principals and what you can live with.

I say just support the candidate you feel most comfortable with.

I think the argument for me on abortion laws is that SCOTUS usurped the people and we have bad law based on judicial fiat. We are told that abortion is legal because lawyers in black robes decided it was. They invented the concept of 'privacy rights' in the Constitution, where none exists. The people have not had the opportunity to argue and vote on this issue. If we as a country decided to amend the US Constitution, or state constitutions, by a vote of the people, then I could live with the results, even if I disagreed with the outcome. What we need for resolution is a national discussion and vote on abortion, without the judicial fiat the liberals wanted and got with Roe V. Wade.

I think we all can agree that a vast majority of abortions that take place is for birth control and the convenience of the living, not for rape or incest. My older brother recently got a girl pregnant after a month of dating. She wanted to talk about it, he was horrified and wanted an abortion. She got angry, he paid the doctor, and she got the abortion. I have not discussed this issue with him, and I may never. I was extraordinarily upset that he wanted to kill, what in essence, was my (bastard) nephew. My mom told him he was killing her grandchild, begged him to reconsider, could give it up for adoption. He wanted personal responsibility; just have the 'procedure' (as he called it) and problem solved. I can't relate to his kind of thinking.

Well anyway, I would rather have someone at the top screaming that abortion is wrong, choose life, even when it is of no avail. To not do so would be a great disservice to the concept that life is a precious gift, rather than a mere convenience.

America voted for Mr. Clinton twice...albeit with a third party candidate running interference...

Actually America voted for someone other than Clinton in both elections. If it hadn't been for Big Ears Perot Clinton would not have been elected either time. He never got higher than 48 percent. That means 52 percent of americans didn't want him. In his first election it was an even higher amount that didn't want him. If we had run a real conservative instead of Dole the second time around he wouldn't have gotten the 48 percent.

The reason we lost in 2006 was because the party wasn't conservative enough, but the Rudybots, of which you are probably one, don't want to admit that they keep trying to change facts.

Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus.

So the murderer knew his victims would be unarmed and defenseless. How nice for him.

And the university administration is setting up counseling sessions and will have an assembly tomorrow "to begin the healing process". Message to students: "We'll make sure you're defenseless against would-be murderers, and we'll hold really nice vigils for you once you're dead."

Please refrain from the Rudy thread mudslinging. Take that to the appropriate thread.

Ahhh...if I would only learn English better:

My brother had no personal responsibility, so he wanted the abortion.

Hi CC, everyone. I was just thinking, though not so eloquently, what you just posted. Once again society enables someone who shouldn’t have a gun and takes them away from the sane who could otherwise protect themselves.

Hi restornu. Yes, FR has been extremely slow for the last hour or so. I’m listening to Rush on WMAL in Orlando, FL.

Sheep are easy to herd with the threat of danger.

I respect that point but I am not aware of any type of handgun that holds that many rounds.

I can't imagine people cowering against a wall while the perp stops to reload...unless they are all females.

And I don't mean to sound sexist when I say that. No disrespect.

This is a monumental tragedy.

This is public education so maybe they stopped counting after 5. Also, they apparently had enough to kill and injure 40+.
