“Good grief! A college campus is NOT a high school, with one large contained space. I went to a college with half the number of students, and there were buildings spread out over about a square mile area. How would you suggest locking down that large a space?”
Many years ago, a guy invented a way to talk over a copper wire. It was called the telephone! There have been several other inventions in which humans communicate over long distances as well. I have attended a few colleges and I do not recall a single building that did not have an office with a telephone in it. Possibly VT people should be retrained in the use of the telephone!
My understanding is the VA tech is a smaller university. I went to a small Baptist UNiversity. if something like that happend there they would have had cops at every block keeping kids from coming to the school and that is what should have happend at VA Tech.
The administration DID call all the RA’s after the first shooting, so that they could inform the students in their buildings. Remember, though, that first shooting was being investigated as a ‘domestic’ dispute, and they had no indication that anything like the massacre that ensued was in the offing.
