But the presence of a gun creates, in and of itself, the danger of gunfire. Even if it is not entirely analogous to your point about speech, there is a logical connection.

I don’t need to tell you about the slippery slope—which is pretty much all jurisprudence is.

Okay, I for one am really really tired of this argument. Ten miles from where I'm sitting is the murder capital of the country where gang-bangers are mowing each other down, and the city libs are screaming about the need for gun control to "get the guns off the streets." Never mind that none of these guns are likely registered, the animals didn't walk into their local gun store and buy them legally, they didn't go through the waiting period, etc.

STOP IT!!!

If you want to say that campuses shouldn't allow guns because of the great numbers of irresponsible eighteen-year-olds, fine, but the problem is not the gun! It's the irresponsible SOB who decided to go get one!

The absence of a gun can present an even greater danger of gunfire.

It does? I've had a shotgun sitting in my closet for the past 10 years or so, and it's never once spontaneously fired. Same with my carry weapon. Never once spontaneously fired. No danger of gunfire whatsoever.

Is that so? All of my guns must be broken then. None of them just sitting on a table create any gunfire.
