"Yes he stalked her." Ok - thanks for that info - I had not heard that said in the msm. So she was the 3rd stalking victim.

Agree re: the media. Fox and NBC are no longer showing the "manifesto" stuff - but CNN has not yet made that decision.

The Fox reporter said people are now giving media people handouts saying the media all need to leave - so Va Tech can move on. I agree. Hopefully next week the healing can truly begin. The determination to carry on and finish the school year with everyone unified to accomplish what they are at college to do was voiced by several today and it was good to hear!

God bless you and all at Va Tech are going to do just that - move on, work hard, succeed, defy the shooter's hatred by proving him wrong!

Yes that’s what several have said - filing off the serial numbers doesn’t really do anything.

There are isolated incidents of people asking the media to leave but we are starting to become accustomed to them. They have become one of us.

Thank you sir (or ma'am)! I assume it's really "sir" based on my less than precise (gray-haired-old-fart) memory of important happenings here at FR over the last 9 years...

Best regards!

(FWIW, I would note that "Gunsmithing" is a misspelling when it comes to WECSOG - the word should properly be spelled - in the specified context - as "Gunsmithin' "... ;>)

(At least, that is my understanding... ;>)

OH - well that's also good to hear.

I saw your "Media relations coordinator" - the person who has been giving news conferences and/or taking care of the media representatives speak. He said he was truly exhausted and just put it out there as to what needed to happen going forward with the media. He asked how many of the media people were staying through the weekend. Probably 15 raised their hands.

But basically he said there would not be daily news conferences any more and they would have to find another location for them to gather.

He was pretty emotional. But sounded so reasonable. I think the mediabots appreciated his candor.

I spoke to a reporter from the Netherlands and another from Canada. The media people have been really nice with a few horrible exceptions. The victims’ families are being stalked by media people that I suspect are stringers.

Well I hope soon the Victims' parents will be able to leave campus - and I hope they will no longer be stalked by the stringers.

But I heard from one set of grandparents yesterday on Fox, I think, who were talking about their grandson - he was the 27 year old graduate student - and what a wonderful grandson he was, always helping them out, etc. Anyway the grandfather said the parents still had not been able to see their son's body. Any word on when that is going to change?

There is a funeral today so I suspect they have all been released. We have another to attend on Monday.

I spent the weekend at a Christian retreat with the medical examiner that is handling the case. We are keeping him prayed up as best we can. Good story there

Yeah, I plead guilty to answering when the young guys call me *sir*. Though it took me a while to break the habit of turning around to see who they were talking to....

Best regards!

'Preciate it! And the best to you, my FRiend!

Concur, for the most part. Though there are also a middlin' number of local affiliate TV pukes who see an opportunity for their breathless, tell-all interview to be the door-opener for them to get a bigtime job with their local station's parent network.

Just so, though the WECSOG art itself certainly predates the term, and probably even language itself. It's ancestry can be traced back at least as far as the tool-bearing *caveman* who found that he could rub the branch or bone he was using against a rock and reduce its diameter where he gripped it, giving him a more secure grasp and letting him deliver a more lethally powerful blow. Eventually, that sort of user-modification personalization was applied to firearms as they came into use.

Accordingly, the slogan: WECSOG: so easy, even a caveman can do it...

Oh, am glad to know the ME is a Christian and has friends praying for him. How difficult this has surely been for him.

Glad that funeral services are taking place so families can say their final goodbyes and begin to go on.

I heard the father of one of the young women killed - he was talking about how wonderful she was - and he is a Christian and said his daughter was a Christian and would want them to forgive Cho. And he said he had already done so. God's grace certainly is at work in this man's life.

The Scientologists have moved onto the drillfield. I hope they get booted. They are selling their religion down there.

A college student who can't exhibit the restraint and skill level of a $9.00-per-hour security guard doesn't belong in college.

You are going to shut the whole mess down...for lack of students. Not to mention the spin off economic damage to beer sales.

All joking aside, while we all have our talents and abilities, there are people I have met who couldn't pour pi$$ out of a boot if you wrote the directions on the heel--and one had a PhD in Physics. Some people are just not safe around anything with one moving part, much less a few dozen, and something that goes 'bang' and emits a lethal projectile in their hands is good cause to be at least a county away.

Nope. I am content to be among the 1% or so who is armed, and I'm perfectly happy to not have the folks who do not want to carry not do so.

Many of them just recognize their own limitations.

Some have valid religious objections, others are in denial, etc.

While most anyone can be taught to shoot, some are better than others, some are passionate about shooting, and many can 'take it or leave it'.

For whatever reason, though, those who do not willingly embrace the responsibility, who do not have the passion either to defend others and themselves or just a love for the sport, are not likely to take the time to master and maintain the skill of pistolcraft, one which is perishable, and one which the wielder must be cognizant not only of their ability, but how well practiced it is--otherwise, when the SHTF, they are going to end up taking out a few innocent parties in the melee, when it could be avoided.

Some simply do not have the demeanor or temperment for carrying a deadly weapon on an ongoing basis.

Ultimately, theough, the weapon between your ears is the one which will be the most effective, but only if you practice, 'game' situations, and sort out when/how would be the best to take to take (or not) the shot.

Look around, play 'What if?', and see where there is cover, concealment, suppose the guy coming through the door right now was a maniac/jihadi hell bent on mayhem. How is your shot angle? are any misses/overs going to take out innocents in the background? Which way to move for a better (cleaner) shot line? For cover? Where might he go for the same and how would I get the drop on him from there?

If you haven't done that every place you frequent, and selected where you sit, say in a restaurant, accordingly, you are already one step behind the bad guys. After a while it becomes automatic, and you find yourself doing it every new place you walk into.

Most people are going to diddy-bop through life--let 'em. Some are sheep, some are sheepdogs, and a few are wolves.

I'd love to see practical pistol, CQB, long range rifle, etc offered in lieu of handball and squash as P.E. classes, right alongside EMT/combat medic training as a wild card elective (to replace any of a number of selected required courses for their degree--that would have beaten Music/Art Appreciation in my book), but to require such of everyone probably is not a good idea.

Just as our currently very effective military is built on volunteers, not conscripts, (as is the Fire and EMS in a large part of America), so should be our homeland defense, especially on campus.

They’ve erected a huge tent and are holding a “revival”. It’s creepy.

The term is Civil Defense, which descriptive term the fed.gov despises and FEMA has disavowed, even to the extent of replacing the familiar CD logo with a new *public safety/public trust* logo somewhat less likely to inspire particular confidence.

No problem. Now that the government has abrogated their responsibilities and tossed away the old symbol, it's now available for the use of any volunteers inclined to use it.

Civil Defense: Now it's up toUS!

Are any students going to the Scientologists’ revival? Would Christians be allowed to do the same thing????
