The former Tennessee senator, who is considering his own run for the GOP nomination, was a swinging single.

As opposed to Rudy's catting around while he was married?

any attempt to sleaze the man over being a single guy dating a few women and having girlfriends will fail, sounds like he was faithful to his girlfriends at the time. The man has TWO small children now with his wife that he MARRIED and committed to. Those two little ones will blow out of the water any attempt to make this into a negative.

Handsome, prestigious, eligible batchelor gets plenty of dates until he finds the right girl, settles down, and has a couple of kids.

Makes me want to vote for him even more!

Go, Fred, go!

Sounds like he’ll get the Clinton second term voters all on his side!

Let me see, here.

A man is divorced, it happens. In our society, for the most part, people aren’t scandalized about divorce. So, Fred and his wife divorced. I haven’t heard of any scandalized tales about their marriage or divorce, so for me, this issue is neutral.

Then, while he was again single, he dated. A man who isn’t married DATES. It’s just part of life. If he hadn’t dated, and crawled into a hole like a hermit, his loved ones would be in grief and worry about him... they would want him to find another mate and to marry happily, move on with his life.

This is something that we should all support... I cannot imagine it becoming a political issue. Would our nation be better served if Thompson hadn’t remarried?

I would guess that part of what makes Thompson, Thompson, is his zest for life, his joy and energy, his sharp mind, his caring soul... these are traits that lead him to finding happiness and marriage. And then it could be said that the way he lives his life today, is a direct result of his happy marriage.

We should be happy for him. And we should be thrilled about all of his qualities! He will be an excellent candidate.

Let me guess—if he’d been dating MEN, he’d be the darling of the democrats/liberals?!

I knew I had a good reason for never reading Newsweek. Feh.

If this is the worse they can come up with about Fred, we’re good to go! ;-)

Thanks for the article — now is the time to get all the documented history out on our candidates (even the one I support :))!

I think this one makes Fred look good.

If this is the worst they can come up with on FDT, then he’s a shoo-in.

Alright, I'll say it...

Could we have a President with a cooler nickname than "the Tennessee Stud"?
