That shows the importance of a candidate who embraces all forms of conservatism.

Perhaps in the primaries, but how far will a 100% ACU rating get someone in the general election in this present political climate?

2006 should have been a wakeup call.

Rudy Will Speak At Pat Robertson University***.... He will be introduced at Regent University by Robertson - who in 2005 said Giuliani would make “a good president.”

Giuliani made his sharpest case for moving beyond social issues this weekend in Iowa, telling The Des Moines Register, “Our party is going to grow, and we are going to win in 2008 if we are a party characterized by what we’re for, not if we’re a party that’s known for what we’re against.” . ...***

I didn't say 100 percent. Just someone who offers something to all types of conservartives.

But Rudy is saying the GOP should put aside the abortion issue. And the 2nd Amendment. And accept the gay agenda.

That is a path to dividing the GOP - not uniting it.

We need to change the political climate, not give in to it.

When the rip tide is pulling you out to sea, the correct solution is to swim perpendicular to it until you can get into different currents.

The Rudy supporters believe the correct way to handle a rip tide it to swim out with it, because that’s just the way things are now and you might as well go along with it.

They correctly perceive that swimming against the current is wasted effort, but incorrectly advise that the alternative is to swim with it out to sea.

What we need is a leader who can CHANGE the current (akin to swimming into other currents) — NOT a leader who is driven by the currents to the wrong destination.

The Rudy supporters stink of defeat.

Actually, probably quite well. Rush pounds on this drum all the time: When conservatives run as conservative, they WIN. Eg. Ronaldous Magnus.

2006 should have been a wakeup call.

It was, but apparently some people didn't wake up. The Rep controlled Congress basically abandoned conservatism, taking the "middle" road and working "with" the Democrats. Spending went nuts, nothing happened for the conservative agenda for 6 years, we got McCain-Feingold, a huge "compromise" (capitulation) on education, etc., etc. The conservatives stayed home to "teach the GOP a lesson." Didn't work out so well, but that's what happened.

In other words, the wakeup call was that more appeasement of the left is not the way to win!
