It’s been laughable watching this frequent Imus guests report on the story like they’re just neutral outside observers.

The Imus story is without a doubt “the” story of the week. And as usual it was handled by most media in a terrible fashion.
One story I read that shows a little inside info you won’t hear anywhere else. It's here at, Media Bistro, which tells about the Minster(Rev. DeForest Soaries) who went over to prep Imus on how to meet with the basketball players he insulted and wound up soothing the distressed I-man only 8 seconds after he heard he was fired from pms. It’s well done and you will find it here:

Here is another of zillions of Imus references

http://newsbusters.org/

Yesterday I sent Monica Crowley an e mail about the I-man. The general consensus is that the I-man has been a bully for years and his time elapsed, his number was punched and the rest is history.
That's not exactly the case however, IMHO.
Trouble is there is more to the I-man than just saying crude, rude things about everyone at every level on the radio. The ranch and his fund raising for charity alone attribute to the true character of a very confusing man.
To begin with no one takes anything he says in that vein seriously, nor should they I-man be taken seriously. Once again if you don't like his style of broadcasting “change the bleep...ing channel”!!
Imus made a classic error in thinking that since dirtbag rappers talk in such a manner about young black women that it was O.K. for him to do so as well.
Guess what it wasn’t.
Problem is the I-man has existed in an environment,tv/radio, that is infiltrated with sharks,low-lifes and dirtbags who sit in front of show after show taping and recording just looking for that one word or phrase which can destroy a 40 year career.
Evidently such a thing did happen to the I-man.
Some media watch group, can't recall the name, taped the “nappy ho” comment and than e-mailed it to a zillion people until he got traction. His traction combined with the I-man's weakness destroyed a 40 year career in a matter of hours.(I have wondered if the I-man may not have known what he was doing and had just gotten tired of the daily grind and wanted out and this was his chance to get out, he saw it, we will never know)
Dealing with radio and tv. execs is the same as dealing with terrorists. You never want to approach them from a standpoint of “let’s talk” or weakness. They only see you as injured, sense blood in the water and immediately attack.
That what happened to Imus and that’s what will happen to us when we deal with terror types at every level worldwide.

It’s strength vs. weakness and strength wins every time.

I’m sure there’s a psychanalytical term for that behavior - would love to know what it is. If I have the time today maybe I’ll do some research while this Nor’Easter howls outside.
