"Girls Gone Wild" bad boy Joe Francis has allegedly been found with pills in his Florida jail cell -- and the reason he got caught is because he allegedly tried to bribe a guard for a bottle of water with a $100 bill on Wednesday night.
And get this ...TMZ has also learned that the President of Mantra Films, Scott Barbour, the company that produces "Girls Gone Wild," has also been arrested by the Bay County Sheriff on suspicion of slipping the pills and the cash to Francis. Authorities say Barbour made the handoff when he visited Francis Wednesday night at the jail. Now Barbour is an inmate at the same jail as Francis.
Scott Barbour booking photoWe've confirmed the story The County Press broke, that authoritites searched Francis and found at least three different types of pills -- anti-anxiety meds Aprazolam and Lorazepam, as well as the sleeping med Lunesta.
Francis could be charged with the crime of introducing contraband into a correctional facility, a felony, and possession of a controlled substance.
Calls to reps for Mantra Films were not returned.
I don't see any prosecutor giving him any break.
From what I heard, the “pills” were his own prescription sleeping pills. And it’s a crime to offer a guard a hundred bucks to bring you a bottle of water? That’s just freaky. I’ll bring you a whole six-pack for that, and I promise not to press charges!
He may be a dirtbag, but that doesn’t mean he’s getting a fair shake. I find it morally repulsive to charge someone with a crime for offering a hundred bucks to bring a bottle of water. And what’s wrong with taking your prescription sleeping pills in jail? Seems to me it’s the place you’re gonna need them the most.
Something here doesn’t smell right.
And to be so stupid as to try to bribe a guard to get him bottled water to wash it down! This guy thinks he is above the rules. He may get charged with a contaband felony in addition to his other troubles.
Yeah? Maybe so. But I hope he beats the rap. I just don’t like it. Pills that are yours, offering to pay for fetching a bottle of water... this is Mickey Mouse BS.
I don’t get why he has to bribe a guard for water. Don’t that have water in prison?
Not bottled water that I know of.
He’s in jail not at home. When you’re in jail there’s some inconveniences, like not getting to take your pet drugs with you... They have these things called rules... With unaccounted for drugs in jail he could be selling them to other inmates as well.
This kind of thing is why the word “schadenfreude” was invented.
I got in trouble 40 years ago and saw the inside of a prison. I was young and scared and I vowed I'd never go back. Not because I'm a hardass, but because it was no place to be to enjoy this thing called life.
For me, the consequences received for my bravado and arrogance (and the sight of my mother crying) ... was sufficient to keep me just this side of legality for the rest of my life.
The penalty has got to be so severe that a person is changed in their thinking by it.
Joey has damaged more minds and lives than he can possibly understand ... ask any parent who has a teen boy and a few hundred dollars in 900 calls on the bill.
Phuque you, Joe ... your celly's name is tiny ... and he's horny as $h!t because of your commercials.
Welcome home.
Where did you "hear" that?
Please bring some facts to the table.
Let us assume that they were prescription. You have to follow strict procedures to bring prescription medication to an inmate - even if it is diabetes medication. Your doctor must approve it, as does the prison physician.
You just don't hand someone "sleeping pills" through the cell. That will land you in jail, as is the case.
Moreover, there are all kinds of medication out there that can be classified as "sleeping pills" including some narcotics.
Also, bribery of a correction officer is also a crime in most states. This isn't a jaywalking ticket. Serious crimes may have been committed.
But until I know some more facts, I will wait and see.
How dumb can you be. The guy has countless millions and doesn’t pay his taxes.
Why would they is is a piece of trash.
The other day, I heard a clip of a speech that Bill Cosby gave. He was talking about the temptations of criminal behavior .
He mentioned he wasn't afraid of jail, rather, he " didn't want to shame my mother".
I think he does time for the taxes and maybe for the contraband in jail.
But he can get water without bribing a guard, right? The guard should have taken $100, and filled up an empty bottle with a garden hose like most bottled water is made.
Obviously, the tap water from the sink/toilet unit in his cell wasn’t sufficient.
I hope his fellow inmates know he is carrying $100 bills in prison. He will be very popular.
