FLORENCE, S.C. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday questioned the way some rappers talk about women in songs, saying the lyrics are similar to the derogatory language used by embattled radio host Don Imus.
They are "degrading their sisters. That doesn't inspire me," Obama said of some hip-hop artists when a man in a crowd of about 1,000 questioned him. The Illinois senator was responding to a question of what inspired him, and said God and civil rights activists.
Earlier this week, Obama criticized Imus, who was fired Thursday for labeling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos."
"I do think we've seen a coarsening of the culture," Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press after the town hall meeting. As a constitutional lawyer, Obama said he was a free speech advocate.
"But just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say something," he said. "And I think that we have not talked enough about the harmful images and messages that are sent."

Very convenient, isn’t it Mr. Hussein ? You first call for Imus’s firing and THEN make this statement.
cf ‘Sister Soulja’ and BJC.
I have it on the authority of progressive thinkers that those lyrics are black culture. Barack will just have to get over it.
This is Mr Hussein’s John Kerry moment. He is now on both sides of the issue.
I’ve heard the same..”ho’s” is a term of endearment..
At least Obama makes sense on this. I have been saying the same thing. The hip hop culture needs to go. The Black Studies group at Duke who led the gang of 88 profs, bases his whole course offering on hip hop culture, including hip hop journalism. Can you imagine what hip hop journalism sounds like or looks like? Maybe Imus can get a job down at Duke.
"It's two a.m. in the morning and it uhh..
Light showers and you're probably hookin up with that girl
That's been, two-wayin you all week. her baby daddy's out
Of town so uhh, you can f#*k around. it's okay to check in
That motel 6. $59.95, not a cent more, for that dirty-ass ho.
Yeah. stop by that convenience store and pick up them rubbers -
Magnum i hope. this is phazon love and uhh, i love hoes.
I just don't pay 'em!"
"Cut up! know we like that, get that cut up
Freaky thangs, we be bout 'em
Get that cut up! oh-whooooooo, cut up
Freaky thangs, we be bout 'em"
Ludacris - Word of Mouf
(Warning: The rest of the lyrics are, more blatantly, XXX)
Ludacris has about six albums worth of songs like this.
Probably 10% are about drugs and/or violence instead of just hoes.
It's obvious how much he "loves" black women.
Obama steps off the plantation. Someone bring him back. Liberals and blacks are not going to put up with this.
Hey, we’re on this thread now. I might as well bring that stuff over here, too — and “open” a few eyes to what’s being said...
The phrase “nappy dugout” was mentioned, earlier, on that other thread and I looked up the definition for it —
noun
nappy dugout
Vagina. The dugout is the dug-in bench at the side of a baseball field where players wait until they are up to play. Nappy comes from hair napping up, sort of the way it it on the way to dreading. The nappy dugout would be the dugout (small enclave a few steps off the main field) that has nappy hair (pubic hair). Giving up the nappy dugout Ludacris (Phat Rabbit), Nappy Dugout Funkadelic
And the following, I got from a web site, giving a translation (I suppose for us white folk...)
Your daughter was a nice girl, now shes a slut.
A queen treatin niggas just like king tut.
Gobbin up nuts, sorta like a hummingbird,
Suckin up the lench mob crew, and Im comin third.
Used to get straight-as, now shes just skippin class.
Oh my, do I love to grip the hips and *ss.
Only 17, with a lot of practice on black boys jimmys and white boys cactus.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, but I gotta be brief:
A lotta niggas like bustin nuts in her teeth.
Drink it up, drink it up, even though shes catholic,
That dont mean sh*t, cuz shes givin up the *ss quick.
Quicker than you can say candy, the bitch is on my snicker...and oh man she
Can take on three men built like he-men;
Her little-bitty twat got gallons of semen.
Fourteen niggas in line ready to bang your
Pride-and-joy, I mean daddys little angel.
Tell the bitch to get her *ss out the house,
Cuz your daughters known for givin up the nappy dugout.
Chorus, 2x: I got a big old ding-a-ling, and if that bitch remains,
Im gonna do my thing, with your dauuuughter!
Mister, mister, before you make me go,
Im here to let you know your little girl is a hoe.
Nympho, nympho, boy is she bad; get her all alone and out come the kneepads.
I know shes a minor and it is illegal,
But the bitch is worse than vanessa del rio.
And if you decide to call rape, we got the little hooker on tape, now:
Tell the f*ckin slut to please hurry up,
And wear that dress thats tight on her butt,
So I can finger-f*ck on the way to the bed,
Been in so many rooms, she got a dot on her forehead.
Face turnin red from grabbin them ankles.
F*ck and get up is how I do them stank-hoes.
You should hear how she sounds with a cock in her,
Boots get knocked from here to czechoslovakia.
Two on top, one on the bottom;
First nigga got the boots, man, you shoulda shot im.
Cuz after I got em it was over. now niggas get lucky like a four-leaf clover.
On daddys little girl.
She keeps nuts in her mouth like the bitch was a squirrel.
So tell sheryl to bring her *ss home,
Cuz the line at my house is gettin loooooooong, and....
Chorus
(givin up the nappy, givin up the nappy....)
Now, this is the kind of stuff that youll find the 13-18 year olds listening to, and thats why our culture has changed so drastically (for that age group), among many other reasons why thats so...
There was a discussion about these things in regards to Girls Gone Wild owner and his troubles with the law. Many were blaming him, however, the stuff that is going on (out there) with our 13-18 year old group (and afterwards in college) is coming from *that generation* and not from the guys making Girls Gone Wild.
How much listening to this kind of stuff before the entire generation just goes off and does exactly what these songs are saying. Oh..., wait a minute theyre already doing it...

And so the story goes with our younger generation...

“Ive heard the same..hos is a term of endearment..”
Yes, and that’s exactly the sense in which Imus meant it when he said it. (sarcasm)
I am old.
great post
I’ve always wanted Ted Koppel to read this stuff on Nightline. If it’s acceptable for the kids to listen to, a wider audience should be too.
Good Christ in heaven, man, did you have to post that whole entire thing? I feel soiled now.
You said — “Ive heard the same..hos is a term of endearment..”
Yeah..., sure...
Take a look at Post #12 and see the endearing nature of that rap song, by Ludacris.
Look..., I’ve seen the teens, about 13, 14, 15 or so, “mouthing” those words as they go along with it... just like they’re really “digging it”....
You just can’t believe what’s going on out there in our society, with our 13-18 year olds (and I’m talking about little white girls now..., not nappy headed hoes).

P.S. — Is it any wonder, as I’ve posted in some of the other threads, dealing with this issue, that these 13-18 years olds are having these s&f parties with the boys out to “overpower” and “subjugate” these girls, who also come to these parties knowing what’s going on and expect to have it happen to them. Both go away, lots of times with videos having been made, and wear all of this as a “badge of honor”. You just don’t want to be a parent these days. Your kids are simply never going to tell you that this is going on, while they’re participating in it.
“Ive always wanted Ted Koppel to read this stuff on Nightline.”
I enjoyed hearing good old Charlton’s sarcastic rendition of ‘Cop Killer’ back when that whole mess was still current...
I really do understand. But, you know..., too many people are ignoring this. I can’t stress enough — what it’s like, to see a 13 and 14-year old mouthing this stuff and they’re just doing it with such great enjoyment! It’s absolutely appalling.
I’ve talked to some (in the extended family that I have) and urged them to quit listening to it and how bad it is and how degrading it is. I get a “I know, but it’s a cool song!”
Oh boy!
All I can say is that this is the stuff that is repeated over and over again, “mimed and mimic” by mouthing along with it — so that it gets ingrained into one’s very fabric, after a while. So, *what happens* when these parties happen and the video cams come out? Well, it’s way too obvious...
