Mitt Romney seemed to be on a roll. [...comparison of dollars raised....] Romney was starting to move in the polls, and on the campaign trail he seemed loose, even funny. Eager to prove his bona fides as a conservative at a stop in rural New Hampshire, he talked about struggling to kill a rabbit with a single-shot .22-caliber rifle and joked that it got easier when someone loaned him a semiautomatic. The gun-loving crowd laughed appreciatively. Feeling expansive, Romney declared that he had been "a hunter pretty much all my life."
....
But he doesn't seem quite ready for prime-time politics, and his stumbles raise a familiar question: can a big shot from the private sector, accustomed to control, handle the chaos of a political campaign? And can a high roller in the secretive world of finance stand the exposure of public life? The historical record is mixed: for every Michael Bloomberg, the media mogul turned über-competent mayor of New York, there has been at least one Dick Cheney, who seems to think that the iron-fist approach mastered at a big corporation like Halliburton can be just as effective in the vice president's office. ...
As a businessman, Romney's leadership style compares favorably to two of the greatest American presidents. In the 1980s and '90s, Romney most likely made hundreds of millions, first as a high-powered business consultant at Bain & Co. and then as a shrewd investor with the firm's offshoot, Bain Capital. In the executive suite, Romney was a team-builder. He sat at the middle of the table, not at the head, and used a Socratic style of questioning to provoke debate. "Even though he was running it, he gave us all the impression that we had an equal voice at the table," ...former partner Bill Achtmeyer. ...

But the article does go on to reveal more about his management style, albeit mixed with the usual Newsweek blatherings (and obligatory jab at both Bush and Cheney). Can't say I've heard them quoting the father of any other presidential candidate, though they have dug into Rudy's family a bit.
A bit? AP sent reporters to Mexico to dig up info on Romney’s great, great, great, great grandfather’s polygamy. One hundred and ten year old dirt. Digging? I’d call that political archeology.
There’s no question where Newsweak stands: 1 million percent for Hillary.
You know, I haven’t read Newsweak except in my Doctor’s waiting room in years. And even then, it’s shocking how much like PEOPLE it’s become.
That statement is an affront to every businessman who actually has had to earn their money rather than inherit it or confiscate it from taxpayers.
Exactly what has Bloomberg done for New York other than to keep it from sliding back to the s***hole status it was before Guilanai was mayor?
Exactly what has Cheney done to deserve a cheap shot such as this.
The more the enemedia pile on Romney, the better he looks to me.
The ‘rats are definitely scared of Romney....
I predict in the next few months, this will be seen as a “friendly” account. If Mitt gains any traction expect the media to get hysterical. This stuff is just pretty mild.
I am certainly no Romney fan, but give me a break:
“for every Michael Bloomberg, the media mogul turned über-competent mayor of New York, there has been at least one Dick Cheney, who seems to think that the iron-fist approach mastered at a big corporation like Halliburton can be just as effective in the vice president’s office. ...”
Bloomberg competent while Cheney ineffective? Who got Newsweaks panties in a bunch?
