The basic problem with deporting the illegals is that
US unemployment is low low low.
The stock market is high.
Govt. tax revenue at all levels are high.
The federal budget deficit as a percent of gdp is low.
The state and local govts. are mostly in pretty good shape.
The US crime rate is near 20 year lows.
Convincing people that deporting the illegals will make unemployment even lower, stock market higher, increase tax revenue, decrease govt. spending, and decrease crime even more, THAT IS A TOUGH SELL.
The status quo is acceptable to you? at what costs to ordainary folks across the nation who are law-abiding and do go thru the process to migrate legally.
It’s a mess, any way ya cut it, imo.

So, we’re a nation of laws—unless letting people break it benefits the country?
Why would I use the argument that deporting the illegals would benefit the economy when the argument that “they’re breaking the law and don’t belong here” should suffice?
For the record, I’m not against temporary work visas. It’s just that if the road to citizenship doesn’t go through Mexico first, it’s amnesty.
I’m going to comment on how illegal immigration has effected my little speck of the US. People I personally know have lost jobs to the illegals, small business owners in the construction trade. When they move into a house in the neighborhood, instead of a normal family of say 5, it is numerous families. I recently picked up my son’s friend to give him a ride to school. Across the street is split level, probably 4 bedrooms. I swear to you, their front yard looks like a used car lot. The cars are parked 2 rows deep across the front yard, crammed into the driveway and then along the street in front of the house. The children are as cute and sweet as can be in elementary school, there are so many that there is no classroom space so they must bring in trailers. 4 years ago there weren’t any trailers at our elementary school, there are now at least 10, eating up the playground. In elementary school, the kids do the best they can but then they hit middle school. Once there they start breaking off into cliques. They turn from cute little kids to gangsta thugs. It is not unusual for the pregnancies to start in the 8th grade. By high school, they form a full fledged gang mentality. Our once crown jewel of a school is now home to the Latin Kings and MS13. They are expelled or drop out at a higher rate then any other group. They are surpassing every other group in teen pregnancy. They are responsible for a huge amount of crime. So much for coming and taking advantage of the free education. Granting amnesty is not going to help with assimilation, it’s just going to be importing a whole poverty class, more unwed mothers and more crime. Thats the reality.
Unemployment might be low in some areas but some places it is higher and getting worse.

But the MSM has the sheeple convinced that this is the worst ecomony ever, the housing market has gone south, you will soon lose your home to foreclosure and you’re one paycheck away from disaster. It’s all Bush’s fault, of course.
But they are asleep on this issue until it directly affects them—i.e. they lose their construction job to an illegal crew who doesn’t have to pay taxes or worker’s comp or loses their job at the poultry plant.
What needs to happen is big publicity on actual crime statistics and the actual cost of illegal immigration.
On human terms, I feel for the poor people in Mexico who have to eat dirt. But we can’t have them disregarding our immigration laws!
Bush is such good compadres with Mexico, we should be encouraging them to cut the corruption that results in a very small weathy class, a large corrupt government employee class and a huge underclass in Mexico. We should also take a page out of Mexico’s book on how they police their southern border—they are such hypocrites it’s not even funny!
If illegals and/or guest workers were not sending those billions back home, the revolution would have already occurred—of course there is a good chance that Mexico would then tilt socialist but then that would be great reason to completely seal the border!

The state and local govts. are mostly in pretty good shape.
Please take a closer look at New York and New Jersey.

So, we are back to what were national crises at the start of the crack epidemic!
