Here’s a novel idea.
Let the market decide.
Why anyone would bother to repeat anything that Stern says is a mystery to me ... Let Imus follow him to oblivion
The reason Stern still has his job is that he mixes large amounts of sex with his programs which is a great selling point these days.
Amen. Imus is occasionally vulgar and is no conservative, but does wonderful charity work for sick children at his ranch. Howard Stern does nothing more than spew filth in every medium he is allowed access to. We must demand that the FCC regulate satellite and cable transmission and strengthen decency standards as part of that regulation. This effort has been initiated in Congress several times and must succeed as one of the first steps in redeeming our country.
This is retarded. Stern is the equivalent to the Spice Channel that shows porn on TV. Just because Stern transmits audio, it doesn’t follow that he’s under the same rules as other people who do the same on FCC-regulated radio. Spice isn’t the same as what NBC can air.
If I were a black person (particularly a black woman) I'd be *far* more offended by that comment than by what Imus said the other day.
We must demand that the FCC regulate satellite and cable transmission and strengthen decency standards as part of that regulation.
____________
It continues to surprise me to see this kind of sentiment expressed at FR.
Agree completely, Stern is a disgusting pig and Tom Leykis is as well. There are so many offensive people in the media today, but they pick and choose who to “discipline”.
The difference is that with Imus, there is a race card to be played !!!
If you don't like it don't listen....I don't listen to Stern.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Pesky Constitution keeping us all free 'n' stuff....
Agreed.
But Stern is a full fledge liberal, so its OK from him.
Nicely put!!!
I remember when he mocked the death of Latin singer Selena. He did a skit with gun shots or something like that. I don’t recall anyone making a big deal about that.
“We must demand that the FCC regulate satellite and cable transmission and strengthen decency standards as part of that regulation.”
How very liberal of you. We don’t need MORE government control of our lives. Let the marketplace determine who’s on and who’s off the air.
“We must demand that the FCC regulate satellite and cable transmission...”
your screen-name allows me to believe that if your “must” is granted, that you’d then quickly join the other camp because using “regulated” sat and cable transmissions for Christian broadcasts would cease.
LULAC here in Dallas sure did make a big stink out of it, and in large part was responsible for Stern being taken off of his Dallas affiliate.
