Nah, we don’t want her to resign! The idea is that if the other side wants to hang themselves, give them as much rope as they want!

...”It makes me wonder what the dems have on the GOP, that is keeping the the Republicans from confronting them on anything.”

A couple days ago there was a similar thread where it was speculated that W was protecting his father from the Clinton's as they has worked on a money raising venture through Arkansas. To date it was the only thing that made sense short of President W lacking the moxie to do the job.

I think that we should all call our Democrat congressmen (if you have one) and tell him that the Democrats need to sanction Pelosi for an ethics violation before the Republicans prosecute her for violation of the Logan Act.

Pelosi is not subject to impeachment in the first place (nor are any members of Congress). The Logan Act is an artful use of words which has no impact except against a private citizen who might falsely pass himself off as an agent of the US government to funny little foreign people somewhere.

I think it's true that it would be hard to prosecute her under the Logan Act. At the very least, Pelosi should be censured, but with the Dems in control I don't see that happening either.

I agree, Pelosi needs to resign or be prosecuted. I have sent an email to my representative, and it’s important that you all do the same. To all of you people who are saying that it’s not worth it because you think that she will never be prosecuted, what have you got to lose? All you have to do is spend 2 minutes to type an email to your rep, if it doesn’t work then at least you tried. But if it does, we might actually get to see her be prosecuted!

Yes, but Newt was supposedly unfaithful to his wife and thus, most FReepers see that as a larger issue than anything else. They’d prefer The Beast or al Sadr in the WH than Newt.

But his legacy is going to be that of a gentleman to the end.

I don't dispute that W is a gentleman. However, letting Nancy get a pass on her unlawful actions, or not responding firmly to Democrat lies is not gentlemanly behavior. It is just plain foolish.

She is a Democrat. They can do anything. Nothing happens to them, even if they have sex with an intern in the oval office while working. Illegal and anti-American behavior are like medals for them. They will enshrine Nance a saint. Democrat women will all start wearing head scarves.

I like my wife’s characterization of the current situation: “Politics has become the classic really bad marriage between a ‘nice’ guy or woman (the Repubs) and the screaming, ranting, angry-maniac husband or wife (the Dems). After awhile the ‘nice’ spouse just shuts up and ‘takes it’ because they know they never can win and they’re weary of trying because it just ends up in a screaming, howling fit of name-calling and lies that go no where and acomplish nothing.”

My theory is that if we all just shut up about politics and the news just quit making up things to be frightened or angry about, we would actually find ourselves living in a very peaceful state, with a few minor issues to resolve as a society, but none of which involve brickbats, clubs or hate crimes.

We are being conditioned to be at odds with each other, and it is up to us not to accept the bait.

If you don’t believe this, ask yourself how well your neighborhood seems to do. Is your neighborhood like the national news? Do you observe conflict as it is prtrayed in the news?

As FDR said, in politics, nothing is by accident...if it happened, someone wanted it to happen (paraphrasing).

The question is: who stands to gain if we are a divided people, who spend their time looking inward, rather than looking outward?

But divorce or a death is the logical end of that situation. Divorce means moving out of country, murder is out, and suicide is not an option.

"...I am just about ready to go underground..."

Dropping out of the net is tough to do, but it's possible. One just has to lower ones expectations, and live very simple. ........... FRegards

The White House did respond firmly, both before and after this vainglorious trip, and after Pelosi’s ludicrous comment that she represented the president, Congress, and the entire universe. That’s about as far as they’re going to go, but it is enough, unless Bush wants to take action to remove her.

That’s fine as far as it goes. Maybe I am too much of a loose cannon. But I am also referring to Bush’s entire time in office. I have seen very little of forceful rebuttal to the Dems over the years. To be fair, I am lumping the Republicans in congress into the mix.

What should be happening is the Republicans in congress should be howling 24/7 that Pelosi should be called on to resign. This administration has [for unknown reasons] not exerted, or been able to exert, much influence on its own party in congress.
