It's probably a good rule to do the opposite of anything the Iranian theocracy wants. Apparently, this government is now doing its darnedest to be bombed. So, for the time being, we should not grant them this wish. In the last three years, the ranting adolescent theocrats in Tehran have alienated the United Nations' Security Council to the point of earning trade sanctions. That's a hard thing to do, given the U.N.'s bias toward the former third world and the way China and Russia value petroleum and trade above all else. Prior to capturing last month 15 British Navy personnel, Iran had for years misled and embarrassed Britain, Germany and France, who all tried to negotiate a peaceful end to Iranian nuclear proliferation. And as a rule, these are European nations that will suffer almost any indignity to talk a problem away. It is also nearly impossible to offend the Russian government on any matter of law except squelching on debts. Still, Iran even accomplished that.

Southack....VDH is thinking along the same lines.
Hmmmmm....tough call. Don’t do what the Mullah’s want, and let them continue developing nuclear weapons and delivery systems, or regime change. Let me think about that one for awhile....
I agree with Hanson. They will fall from within if we show restraint. If they do threaten to use the bomb, all bets are off.
Europe isn’t going to do anything about Iran, esp. Germany, who is making tons of money propping up their economy with goods and services. The same for Russia, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, etc.
A massive, but precise strike against the Iranian navy, both ships and bases, would cripple their ability to blackmail nations using the Persian Gulf for oil shipping.
Once the threats to the sealanes are reduced or wiped out (refering only to naval threats), then you will find the US in a better position to put other pressure on the Mad Mullahs.
Otherwise, it will be another Cornwell useless ship in the vicinity mentality.
It will not matter to the Mullahs if the masses are stirred up if the Mullahs are dead.
I'm not as confident as you on that.
This explains Iran’s behavior: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1814643/posts?page=51#51
True but would it not really be emotionally satisfying to make Tehran a real glass melted parking lot, just once in this endless battle against Islamofascism? And anyhow, VDH is a genius but would it not be wonderful to see these imans or their skeletons roasted in their nuke tech factory areas by some Stealth and guided missile low yield nuke bombs which would ruin their economy for years and take out much of their nuke infrastructure. We know it would not happen with the wussies we have in govt., but one has to admit, it would be very satisfying to see them pout and whine and lose.
Useless. Every regime is, has been, and will be, an adequate reflection of the socially active part of its population [i.e. of the people that count]. Even the occupation regime is so, but this special case reflects the population of the occupier. In vulgar lingo, every people deserves its government. Thus - nuke the hairyarses.
