"World's Greatest Newspaper," the Chicago Tribune used to bill itself with P.T. Barnumesque modesty. World's Greatest it never was, but, viewed from my neighborhood in Chicago, it always seemed the world's least Jewish newspaper. Which makes the fact that the paper is now owned by Sam Zell, son of immigrant Jewish parents from Poland, the first of the ironies associated with Mr. Zell's much-publicized recent acquisition of the Tribune Company, the crown jewel of which is of course the Trib...

Interesting. Do all these smart folks know something about newspapers that the rest of us don’t ?
When I first read this article I was a bit surprised by the author’s Jewish myopia. I was left wondering “why did the WSJ print this crap?”.
I’m not Jewish and it’s simply not an issue to me. I don’t know why it should matter to anyone.
With Zell it is the real estate that these papers have oprions to purchase properties. In chicago alone the Freedom Center (that is where the Trib is printed) is located on land just west of downtown Chicago.
Remember Zell just sold his company Equity Office that owned and managed buildings for a record amount!
Real estate; guess they’re not making any more of it...
That should tell you something. He sold all of his real estate and is buying a newspaper. The guy is known for buying undervalued assets at the right time. Imanutjob will love this.....the Jews are taking over the world !!! /s
What if you knew why these businesses are faltering/failing and how to fix it?
It's obvious - people don't care for the crap that's in the liberal papers and they aren't buying it. It's the same opportunity that Fox News has seized upon.
Fair and balanced news coverage - what a concept.
The Chicago Tribune was not always a left wing yellow sheet. Maybe Sam’s plan is more than real estate...
Need to have a place for real journalists to go. Tribune could be one.
