Great piece, JV. And your conclusions seem sadly accurate. We’re on our own.

Yes we are on our own and may be it is better to be this way. Of course we need to fight our our defeatists and traitors in our midst who are also willing to capitulate and surrender.

Amen brother! We are alone, although I think we still have the Aussies and some Eastern Block countries. And we must stand strong from here forward. Western Europe is lost. They are complacent in their cradle to grave socialism. Their white flags are waving high and can be seen all they way to the Middle East. Our own Democracts are trying to hoist a white flag from the soil of the USA but thankfully, President Bush keeps ripping it down.

How many years has the Iranian Regime been kicking sand at the West? Time to toss some back.

The sun has indeed set on the British Empire. Will the crescent moon now rise over the British Homeland?
Queen Elizabeth I reigned over the beginning of the British Empire and the establishment of Anglicanism as we know it today. Queen Elizabeth II has the honor of reigning over the end of the British Empire and the break-up of Anglicanism.

Perhaps this is the “rock bottom” that is required before the beginning of recovery. A lot of British are very upset of this.

"Yes we are on our own and may be it is better to be this way. Of course we need to fight our our defeatists and traitors in our midst who are also willing to capitulate and surrender." Those in our midst will always be secure so long as we follow ineffective and ambiguous R.O.E.'s for domestic enemies.
What does it profit a country to vanquish all of its foreign foes only to lose its own soul to the enemies within?

There might be one more ally—Israel. Certainly, they have a dog in this hunt.
One direct result of these sailors and Marines behavior, I believe, is today’s announcement from Iran. They feel that no one can, or will, stop them. I pray they have miscalculated.

“Perhaps this is the ‘rock bottom’ that is required before the beginning of recovery.”
It isn’t even the beginning of the end. First we must see through the collapse of American public will and the withdrawal of most US forces from the Middle East. Then we will see the abrupt tilting of the new Iraqi government towards their co-religionists in Teheran. Then we’ll get to see the development of the Iranian nuclear weapons, and the escalation of threats.

What did anything that happened involving these Brits have to do with France?
