Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Sessions talking about how the bill will have to go to conference and it takes a while to work out the differences.
(He’s doing an educational colloquy)
If Pelosi actually cared about the military, would she not have appointed conferees? (He’s exposing what Pelosi is doing.)
Now Thune is going after her for going abroad (can I use that word) and conducting foreign policy when she ought to be here doing her work.
Both Bond and Rockefeller vehement about getting their intelligence bill passes, but from their comments it appears some of the others have some serious problems with it.
have you seen this??
Ohio Man Accused Of Plot With al-Qaida
http://www.myfoxphilly.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=2909880&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.1.1
Are you having fun here by yourself?? LOL
I was watching...but, couldn’t get on the computer.
Thanks for posting the play by play..
Sessions and Thune are very good together. :0)
Why do I feel creeped out watching Bond and Rocky working together so closely???
Dang...he has been working THAT long with al-queda, and they are just now getting him??
I wonder how many are out there joining and training and planning...
Fox New is having an extensive segment about this Christopher Paul guy....
It IS good that the FBI is finding people like him...
Yes, it is. I get the feeling that they are watching any number of people.
(I was having fun playing here all alone, but I do prefer company :)
It seems like you do the same quite often on the Long War thread.
My alarm goes off at 5:00...Bill Bennett’s show comes on and I listen in bed...I sometimes fall back to sleep.
But, lately, I think, “dang Bahbah has probably posted 4 great articles on the Long War thread by now...and here I am being lazy in bed...”
YOU are amazing..how do you do it??
UGH..jon f’n carry up to talk about “the situation in Iraq”..
jon carry is taking exception to McCain’s speech. Calls it divisive.
This could get good. Kerry hasn’t got the brains to take on McCain on this issue.
(I’m a morning person. Worthless after 7PM.)
Yes...I saw on Fox News that they had on McCain (missed what McCain said)..to answer to what Edwards and Obama had critisized him about, regarding his speech.
It SEEMS that McCain’s speech really touched a nerve with the DEMS...and I am THRILLED.
I know a lot of people want Prs. Bush to give that type of speech..and, hey, I would love to hear it also...but, Pres. Bush has this stubborn notion of not being TOO pointed in his admonitions to the Dems about what they are trying to do.
I also think these Dems better be careful...they keep bringing up how the Iraqi Government isn’t working to get things accomplished like the oil revenue sharing and such..
BUT, what they are doing is the SAME THING...they are keeping THIS country from doing its’ business by squabbling over every little thing...they aren’t much of a role model to the Iraqis on how to run a government smoothly!!!
I used to be a morning person when the kiddos were home..and when I worked..
Also..now that I am on Free Republic, the time in the evening just flies..and I will look up and it will be 11:00, and I could have sworn it was only 9:30 to so!!
jon f’n just used the words “how DARE the Senator from Arizona”....he dares, jon, because he is a braver man than you and he is RIGHT.
Oh..now he is taking on the Republican POTUS candidates...LOL
Yeah..those special ops forces would have to travel with a lawyer and ask anyone that they are fighting to announce if they are al-queda or Iraqi..
Oh..boy, now jon is saying their needs to be a deadline for the NEIGHBORS of Iraq....pffffffft
I do hope John McCain is drafting up his response to that traitor.
The drooling over Ted Stevens continues.
Byrd apparently lost his place in his prepared remarks and had to go back to the beginning and start the whole thing over.
One of these days, I am going to be watching Sen. Byrd try to get through his speech and he is going to drop dead right in before my eyes.
I didn’t get to watch after about 11:30 this morning..but, I did see some clips of Patrick Leahy giving a speech on the Senate floor...Brit’s show had them.
I was SO digusted by the demeaning way he was talking about Pres. Bush, Karl Rove and Gonzo...I started asking myself where is OUR Sharpton or Jesse Jackson???
Where is someone, anyone to get on TV and call these guys out for there NASTY nasty speeches!!!
Oh..and I guess Schmuckie was just as bad today.
Did either of you see any of that??
Also..what, if anything, did they do today??

Some notes: 1st one...Hillary has hired a LULAC guy as a campaign advisor....what is spanish for “pander”???
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070413/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_intelligence_veto
Bush plans on vetoing the Intell Bill...this is good, it tells what the provisions are in the bill that he doesn’t like.
I don’t see the Senate scheduled tomorrow on C-span...so, I guess Tuesday through Thursday is Harry’s idea of working hard.
