By Richard S. Lindzen Newsweek International April 16, 2007 issue - Judging from the media in recent months, the debate over global warming is now over. There has been a net warming of the earth over the last century and a half, and our greenhouse gas emissions are contributing at some level. Both of these statements are almost certainly true. What of it? Recently many people have said that the earth is facing a crisis requiring urgent action. This statement has nothing to do with science. There is no compelling evidence that the warming trend we've seen will amount to anything close to catastrophe. What most commentators—and many scientists—seem to miss is that the only thing we can say with certainly about climate is that it changes. The earth is always warming or cooling by as much as a few tenths of a degree a year; periods of constant average temperatures are rare. Looking back on the earth's climate history, it's apparent that there's no such thing as an optimal temperature—a climate at which everything is just right. The current alarm rests on the false assumption not only that we live in a perfect world, temperaturewise, but also that our warming forecasts for the year 2040 are somehow more reliable than the weatherman's forecast for next week.

Part of the problem is that the Wrong (fka the Left) has control of academia, so increasingly only more Wrong people are hired by colleges to teach and do research.
What I`d like to know is if Al Gore can explain to me how an atmosphere like earth that contains only .0383% CO2 can possibly have a greenhouse effect like Venus which has an atmosphere of 96% CO2.
I mean we`ve had those cars and industrial plants burning and firing up constantly for over a 100 years and we still can`t get that number up to even .05%!!! Maybe we should burn even more coal and set off a few nukes and see if we can help it along! This is embarrassing, Venus is showing us up!
Uh oh, hope he wasn’t up for tenure....one doesn’t go against ‘Mother Liberal’ and not live to regret it.

Leading off an article with an untrue statement, and doubling it with 2 untrue statements makes the rest of the article and what ever conclusions it reaches based on those statements in complete error.
The earth has still not warmed back up to what it was previous to the mini ice age, and there is absolutely ZERO evidence there is even such a thing as a "green house gas", and that humans are emitting any amount of them.
So called UN "scientists" are completely ignoring the FACT that in recent history, within 4,500 years or so, the entire north pole and all the land within the artic circle was once a lush tropical enviroment, a fact proven by the huge amount of animal carcasses; elephants, rino's, hippo's, tigers, wolf, fox etc. discovered throughout the region in that last century, some so "fresh" the meat was still edible, and being eaten by the local animals as it emerged from the ice.
These yet to be explained, and quietly ignored discoveries makes the theory developed by so called ice core samples, and the dating estimates atributed to them obviously in error, making all the "global warming" doom and gloom warnings seem what they are, scare tactics with absolutely no sound science to back them up.
These scare stories also ignore more recent history when Greenland was ice free, which also throws ice core samples and the carbon dates assigned to the depths they were recoveresd from in error.
Finally, many of these so called "scientists" working for the UN's Global government warming department believe Mohammad was a prophet, and that a moon god named "Allah" wrote a koran and gave it to him, instructing him to rape women, rape a 6 year old, and murder everyone who doesn't accept Islam.

He already has been. He has made other statements that don’t support massive anthropogenic global warming.
And a return to "normal" averages is nowhere in sight. The last 2 weeks now, have been on average 15f BELOW normal. So much for the alarmists claim of ealier springs.
I swear, the newspeople must not have any windows in the newsroom, and they never go outside when they show "global warming" scare stories.
They sort of shot themselves in the foot when they tried to make a "global warming will make maple syrop extinct" story, and the farmer showed that the temperatures has been the same at each spring harvest time for the past 100 years, and that the beginning of the harvest always fluctuates by a week or two each year.
When it comes to hard facts and real records, "global warming" alarmists are hard pressed to show any. All they can come up with, and keep on falling back on is the same old faulty computer model that they started out with.

Guess they won't be on the Gore Tour (and to think that circa 1984, The Gores were the blood enemies of the music industry).
If you think they are upset about global warming, imagine how concerned they would be about global cooling.
Gore would, without anybody knowing it,have to put a thick sulfuric acid cloud around the earth and say I told you so.
Only the stupid would not to notice and throw money at his feet howling save me, save me.
You would think they would want good news. You would think it would be a comfort to find out it is not as bad as they have been told. But it's just pride now. They don't want to admit they've been foolish. So they just dig their heels in and turn a deaf ear to what would actually be a comfort to them if they had good sense.
Climate change is just another liberal scheme to raise taxes on the developed nations. Keep repeating ad infinitem.
