Two U.S. senators went against their usual party lines today to defend and criticize Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Cali., over her recent trip to Syria.
Speaking with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, Penn., said the Democratic leader did the right thing by going to Syria and meeting with President Assad, a trip the White House denounced.
"She has a very prominent constitutional role in determining what's going to happen in the Iraq war," he said. "I don't think it is helpful for people in the administration to characterize her as being engaged in, quote 'bad behavior,' unquote."
But Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., felt very differently.
"I respectfully and strongly disagree with Arlen Specter and with Nancy Pelosi. I believe her visit to Syria was a mistake, that it was bad for the United States of America and good for the Syrians," he said.
I despise this sleazy SOB.

For the record, I despise Specter too. When he told Russ Fiengold that, “Your are no more a defender of the Constitution than I am”, he was soooo telling the truth.

I was stunned when I heard Spector say this this morning. I sent him an email and told him he shouldn’t be praising Pelosi, but as ranking member of the judiciary committee, he should be investigating her violations of the Logan act. What a dweeb he is. He has stabbed this President in the back one too many times; he is not just an egotistical idiot, he is an arrogant twit who puts way too much importance in himself.
Again I ask ... no none will answer .... name 5 conservative senators with a backbone. Bet you can’t do it. The only reason they are where they are is becuase they couldn't hold a job in the private sector.
