It is a sad day for all who loved these strips for 50+ years, and for a truly giving and nice man.

NO cheers, unfortunately.
Hope to get to meet up "upstairs."

Too bad. He was a brave man to stand up to the anti-Christians.

Jon Hart was one of the kindest, most brave and dryly funny human beings who those of us here in the Land of the Living have had grace to share air and water. He loved his Lord, and wasn’t ashamed to say it. I’ll bet I bought every paper back he ever reproduced, some over and over, following the long story lines, the love of baseball, the stark but normal backgrounds, usually sporting a volcano. Sometimes silly, other times profound beyond belief. This wasn’t fast food art, and I look forward to some publisher having the guts to reprint his whole collection, and, in any case, I look forward to thanking him and reading the whole collection soon enough. Thanks, Jon. Love you and miss you.

Eternal Rest grant him, O Lord.
One of the few cartoonists who was clearly and happily not afraid to show his faith.

God Bless Johnny Hart! He was my one of my favorite cartoonists and he will always be special to me because of the openly Christiam messages he had in his cartoons. May may he rest in peace with the Lord he is now in the presence of.

The Wizard of Id and Frank and Ernest are the only cartoons that amuse me in my local fish wrap.
RIP Johnny...

O death, where is thy sting?
For those of you who didn't know, Johnny Hart was a Christian.
To: Shady
Prayers for him and his family. He was a good man.

About 10 years ago our pastor wrote Mr Hart and asked if he could copy and blow up one of his Easter strips to put in the hall of the church. He was very gracious and said absolutely.

I tried to find a certain BC Easter cartoon. The characters finish praying together and decide to meet at dawn for a “Sunrise Service” and the hairy guy stays behind and remarks “Son Rise. Serve us.” Does anyone have a link they can post?

Praise the Lord for Johnny’s gain. Thanksgiving that we had this voice of truth in something as simple as a comic for as long as we did.
