Northbound today. To son's for a day, then on to the races!
John Force Racing plans to return to action at this weekend’s eighth annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, team patriarch and 14-time NHRA world champion John Force announced during a nationwide press conference Tuesday. The team sat out the last national event in Houston following the March 23 death of team driver Eric Medlen, who died as a result of closed head injuries suffered during a test session at Gainesville Raceway in Florida. Experts have determined that Medlen’s death occurred due to a violent side-to-side shaking of his head within the cockpit roll cage.
All four race teams will go to Vegas, but only three might compete. In an unprecedented move, NHRA is allowing JFR to test at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, site of this weekend’s race, to see if John Force Racing’s reconfigured race cars are drivable. Under the watchful eye of NHRA officials, no tuning data will be gathered during the test, where Force will intentionally drive his car into tire shake to see if newly installed padding around the driver’s head will help. Force is not fully committed to racing any of his cars, including the Super Comp dragsters of daughters Brittany and Courtney, pending the results of the test session.

Wonder why they are just finding this out? Flash introduced the changing color paint at Charlotte many years ago.
That’s why I pinged ya ST. My favorite current color is Pearl White on the Caddy. Of course that was a popular color several decades ago...
Dale Jarrett to Make Debut as ESPN NASCAR Analyst at Texas: Dale Jarrett will begin the transition to what may be the next phase of his career this weekend when he joins ESPN2 as booth analyst for live coverage of Saturdays Busch race at Texas. Jarrett will appear on 10 of this seasons Busch telecasts while continuing to race fulltime in the Nextel Cup Series. Jarrett has indicated that 2008 will be his last year of driving and has hinted that a more expanded television presence may be in his future. Over the last few years, TV was something that I have taken more interest in and looked more at because I want to stay involved in the sport, he said. This is the perfect chance that ESPN is offering me to see if its something that I really want to do and want to look at after 2008 to do maybe closer to full time. And to find out if its something I can do and if ESPN would be interested in having me.(ESPN PR)(4-9-2007)
Maybe he’s trying to get Burger King as a sponsor. :)
