Lurch in office is a disaster.
I really miss her. No one could you put down so completely yet so gently!
I would have a better chance debating Einstein on quantum physics than Kerry has against newt.
I understand that Newt's PhD and teaching experience was in History. I don't know if he has the science to deal with this kind of topic from a position of expertise.
Why are two non-experts debating a highly complex scientific subject?
I mean, why don’t they debate the complexities of the logistics of sending a man to Mars. I suppose they know about the same amount about that subject too.
The debate is scheduled for Tuesday (April 10, 2007) at 10 a.m. in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Mark your calendars! I'm sure there will be a live thread going on FR Tuesday morning...
But that won't be the picture that the drive-by media will paint, we all know that.
Since neither of them has the relevant scientific credentials, they will both cite the data and conclusions of "experts" and professional organizations who support their respective positions. In that sense, it will be a draw. If one of them can churn out the best crowd-pleasing rhetoric, that will be the "winner" but it will be a hollow victory. I suspect there are very few whose opinions of "global warming" are not already set in stone anyway.
He’s debating kerry, not gore.
I too think this will turn out to be a mutual JO session for a couple o’ beltway gadflys.
I haven’t read any of Newt’s books and have only heard excerpts on radio talk shows. Very impressive stuff.
Last week on Rush or Medved he described a free market approach to address environmental issues that the libs want to solve with onerous taxes and government.
IMHO, should he run and achieve front runner status the old media will ignore his new ideas and purposely destroy him. Newt belongs in the background, helping and advising a conservative President.
Newt now sounds more like an anti-global warming adherent.
It's rather like the Sweathog Algore appearing before the limp-wristed pansy senate panel, with the exception of Senator Imhoffe who attempted to get the heavily perspiring nut-case to answer a question.
Barbara Boxer was quite good as committee chairthing. Proving that Democrats are tanking so rapidly it's impossible to gauge the speed. It's all good news, however.
Yep, kinda of like debating Dr. Suess about whether the ‘hat’ for Cat in the Hat
was fur or fake.
Tell the voters how much this would actually cost,
if they actually had to pay their share,
to en-act the Democrats idea’s,
and hopefully reality might sober them up.
Damn, it’s April, and it’s COLD here on the East Coast! That proves there’s Global Warming! ... Um, well, yeah, I know it’s COLD... but Global Warming is... um, unpredictable! The very Unpredictability of Global Warming proves it exists!
/sarcasm
I hope Newt cleans his clock, too (although he better watch out - JFK is a Vietnam Veteran, and should be approached with caution). Seriously, that pompous, self-important, phony JERK deserves a public humiliation that the last election didn’t quite accomplish. I want him whimpering on the floor, crying for John Edwards to come hold him and make it all better.
Okay, more wishful thinking...
I am more looking forward to Newt debating Rudy on the matter since it’s yet another situation where Rudy is totally aligned with the Dems.
Good point malamute- Newt should not even be giving kerry the time of day or exsposure on nationalk tv. it can only hurt Newt and strengthen someone who is unworthy of respect. newt should simply have a show by himself outlining why global warming is nothing but a money grab and a sham that will line hte pockets of unethical money-grubbing maggots!
I'm in Louisiana and it is currently 39 degrees. I was mowing the lawn yesterday wearing fleece-lined jeans, two shirts and a jacket. This is crazy!
