Alternative Easter Egg Hunt Near White House to Use Fake Cluster Bombs Made By Kids
Friday , April 06, 2007
AP
WASHINGTON Anti-war and human rights activists plan an unusual take on the Easter egg hunt by holding an Easter cluster-bomb hunt on Monday.
Fake cluster bombs made by children will be scattered around Lafayette Park, north of the White House.
Hundreds of people will attend the White House Easter Egg Roll while activists hold their alternative cluster-bomb hunt on the other side of the executive mansion.
Brian Hennessey, a spokesman for the Vineeta Foundation, a group sponsor, said the event aims to be humorous and fun for kids. Organizers also want to bring attention that cluster bombs cause death and destruction, Hennessey said.

What happened to their concern for landmines? Is that now passé and the cause du jour is cluster bomblets?
To: Sub-Driver
Somebody help me out here: is a fake cluster-bomb considered to be a “war toy,” and thus glorifies warfare in general? Isn’t that the default argument?

I can just imagine the crowds waiting to get in to take their kids on a cluster bomb hunt. Please tell me this is satire.

Cluster bombs were the big cause during Kosovo (replaced by some whining about WP rounds during Fallujah) and now having a resurgence thanks to the recent Israeli invasion.

"Cluster bombs were the big cause during Kosovo"Was it Kosovo (or maybe Afghanistan long ago) where the bomblets were made to look like toys? Wasn't that the complaint?

When I was a kid I would have preferred a cluster bomb hunt.

They must all be founding members of
Keepers Of Odd Knowledge. (KOOKs for those in Rio Linda)
Mnay years ago I worked on the dies to make cluster bombs. I can't remember how many there were, but quite a few. (High volumne production capacity)
The fins formed into the spherical nose section were altered to attain a larger and more even spread of the bomblets. Cool lookin' little suckers. I had completely forgotten about that.
I wonder what the reaction would be at that 'alternative egg hunt' to a sign that read, "I made cluster bombs".

World opinion was outraged when it was discovered that we taunted prisoners at Abu Ghraib and put panties on their heads; it was at the top of the news for weeks. But the almost daily suicide bombings in Iraq - targeting and killing dozens of innocent civilians - pass by without comment.
That's because the conclusion of the MSM has already been scripted which is that the UNITED STATES is THE ONLY country on the planet that is EVIL!!! Now, the easy work. They simply "report" on stories that draw everyone else to that conclusion.

It disgusts me when political people of both sides use their kids like this.
Do what you want but using your kids is WRONG.
Childhood is about fun not making political points.

"Theres plenty of comment by the loony lefties on the market bombings - it runs along the lines of if we werent there it wouldnt happen."
They forget that before the war, while Clinton was in office, we were told that hundreds of thousands of Iraqi women and children were dying because of the UN/US sanctions. Remember the flap when Albright said those deaths were justified because Saddam posed such a serious threat to US security? All of that has been conventiently forgotten by the Dems and the MSM.
