Pataki: I could be happy with Giuliani or McCain

ALBANY, N.Y. Former Governor George Pataki says today that he would be "honored" to support either former Mayor Rudy Giuliani or Sen. John McCain if they win the Republican nomination.

Pataki hasn't yet ruled out a possible run of his own for the White House,

For his own part, Pataki says he would "continue to focus on policy" with speeches around the country. He delivered one on Iraq in January in which he was critical of the way the war has been handled.

Pataki's latest comments came as he prepared to travel to New Orleans for an April 13th breakfast speech on the rebuilding efforts facing his home state in the wake of the September 11th attacks. Pataki says he hopes some of the lessons of New York may help with the problems facing Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

I am not trying to paint you as anything. You said in Post #24 "Rudy is not out of line by agreeing that poor women should have this right." So by your own statement you agree in public financed abortion. Not only that but you declared that public financing of abortion is a "right". That is, unless you misspoke and now wish to retract your earlier statement.

Taking my words out of context and putting your own spin on my statement is a very desperate attempt on your part to put words into my mouth. I used quotations on certain words and don’t need to retract anything.

I am simply repeating back to you what you wrote.

Did you or did you not state "Rudy is not out of line by agreeing that poor women should have this right"? That statement means you believe we should fund abortions and that this is a right. You seem to be distancing yourself from that statement which is good. It would have been more straightforward to simply state that you made a mis-statement instead of being so evasive and defensive. Words mean things. For you to attack me for simply holding you accountable for what you wrote in Post #24 is evasive and disingenuous.
