That "oh my god" screaming headline on the Drudge Report today pushing a video that suggests San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was "caught on tape" and "simulates oral sex with TV crew's stick mike" is bunk, according to journalists involved with coverage of the event.
The Newsom story was given the top headline in Drudge today and included a still photo getting big play on the website -- showing the mayor's mouth in apparent contact with a stick mike from KTVU Channel 2, the Oakland-based station.
The video posted on Drudge is linked to the website of San Francisco-based ABC7 reporter Dan Noyes -- who has had several high profile run-ins with the mayor. Some of the Noyes' blog's comments excoriate the mayor for "going down" on the mike and other strange behaviors.
But of the Drudge headline, ABC7's news director Kevin Keeshan says: "We have no idea where this came fromâ¦this is totally out of context for our very serious coverage."
The still is taken from a recent press availability, during which Newsom -- surrounded by journalists -- opened it up for questions and took a quick and playful bite at it, journalists there say.
"He's goofing around, he's taking a bite out of it," said one news executive at a competing station who says Drudge's representation is "just wrong."
The posting by Noyes has gotten attention, in part because of his not-too-friendly relationship with Newsom. As recently revealed by the Chronicle's Matier & Ross column, Noyes called himself "the 60 Minutes of San Francisco" in his email pitches to interview former mayoral appointments secretary Ruby Rippey-Tourk, who was revealed to have had an affair with Newsom.
Noyes, at this week's press conference, tried repeatedly to get the mayor to answer questions on Laguna Honda hospital. The mayor ignored...

“someone is having fun with what really happen!”
And we are having fun with what didn’t happen!
Since I have no respect for newsom, I have no problem with making fun of him or any other San Fransicko wackjob.
To each their own dynachrome...
I choose to honor my Lord and try to do right by all mankind!
It is one thing to be “tongue and cheek” (no pun intented)about those you don’t like, but to repeat a lie, or saying something about another that is not true, that never happen is wrong!
If I try to be honest in all my dealing how could I outright gossip or lie about another when I know it is not true!
If you blow it up and gamma correct, you can see that you are likely right and it is an artifact.
Obviously, as a kid, he got chocolate microphones for Easter.
What's the difference? Oral enough to be the same thing to me! But I guess I haven't kept up with San Francisco values.
Is that what you honestly saw on the Video?

I believe it is time those who say they walk with God should be beyond on reproach, and not do as the opposition does to us!
You want to be sarcastic fine, but don’t try to pass it off as fact!
Invest in credibility!
I think the mayor has been to too many Cramps shows.
I didn't buy "I smoked the joint - but I didn't inhale." And now I also don't buy "I simulated nibbling the ____ - but I didn't simulate sucking it."
I guess I'm having trouble with the nuances in deviation of acceptable behavior in San Francisco. But that's probably for the following two reasons:
The video shows the Mayor of the deviant Capitol of the world making a sight joke with his mouth on an object whose shape assures me it's kind has had similarly alternative uses among many of his supporters. (He probably figured it would win him some votes.)
And... I've never know men who thought it was funny to simulate oral acts of any kind on phallic shaped objects.
I saw as a nutral responce that an adult will do to a child who has a an ice cream cone and they tease by pretenting to take a bite out of the childs cone!
That is where my mind is I guess yours is elsewhere....
Correction
I saw it as a natural response
Guess some man think below the belt all the time!
