A controversial Texas imam who at one point participated in a "tribute to the great Islamic visionary" Ayatollah Khomeini, has offered a prayer to open the state Senate that excluded both Christians and Jews.

And the senator sponsoring this was *Republican* Florence Shapiro.

Aren’t we just an inclusive diverse bunch?

This, in Texas? Isn’t this one of the signs of the apocalypse?

Ok, I’m certainly a serious Christian and not unaware of the evil movement against Christians in our country, but....

I have known of many a Christian who opened Congress with prayers that have denounced evil, sin, hypocracy and other behaviors that would test God’s mercy.

Christians, nor this Iman, name other faiths as being bad. I may agree with the reading between the lines, but lets not get on the “spin” wagon for the sake of looking for something to be angry about.

We have enough real issues of evil to deal with, without looking for something to get people all whacked out about.

Creepy isn't it? At least three of the Biblical signs of the Apocalypse mention the Texas State Senate. By Name.

Not if the rest of the TX senators had acted like this.

Imam's prayer in Senate makes one senator a no-show

See, if you’d have had a prayer that in any way, shape, or form seemed like it might possibly have the least bit of Christian overtone, then that would be a violation of the Constitutional Requirement for the Separation of Church and State.

Dan Patrick...Why am I not surprised...

But then again, I would expect him to do this...

I believe he’s right about this one...

Now I just wonder if Ms. Shapiro is aware of how many imams would like to see her Jewish backside annihilated?

I’m also not surprised that my senator stayed in there for this “thing”...

I only heard about this prayer thing this morning...If I had known before hand I am sure I could have gotten off a call to his opffice, and told him I don’t have a warm and fuzzy about my representative hanging around for this thing either...

Its not like if he left, would he lose his seat at the table for the rest of the days business...Geesh...

Florence Shapiro is a RINO, big time. She only uses the Republicans. My daughter did a short internship with her, and no one, not even her own staff, likes her or trusts her.

Oh hell no, this is worth getting pissed off about. Muslims belong in the middle east. NOT TEXAS.

No, not really. You don’t realize that all this was just a ruse to have the king of Saudi Arabia open next week’s meeting with his advisors with the sign of the cross. Don’t be such an alarmist.

If you invite someone to pray, then you can't tell him what to pray.

Otherwise, it isn't him praying, it is you.

Your choices:

Test God's mercy? What kind of statement is this?

I live in Plano and there is a joke about the city being divided into East Plano, Middle East Plano, and West Plano. I live in Middle East Plano.
