"South Park" goes after Catholic leader

The folks at "South Park" take no prisoners.

Consider Wednesday's episode, which went after Bill Donohue, president of the conservative Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights. Donohue has been a severe critic of the animated series on Comedy Central.

The episode mixed Easter and "The Da Vinci Code" in typically wacky fashion. The plot involved the current pope and Jesus. The story ended with Jesus cutting Donahue in half with a flying ninja blade.

In other recent controversies, Donohue has called the co-creators of "South Park," Matt Stone and Trey Parker, whores and cowards.

Oh really? So that episode about the statue of the Blessed Mother "bleeding out of her @ss" wasn't bashing Catholics or Catholic belief, eh? Please.... If you can't see that something like that is deeply offensive to Catholics, you're dead from the neck up.

My neck and northward are quite alive, thank you. I saw them bashing idolatry and addictive behavior, not the tenets set forth in Christianity. If that's Catholicism to you, then that's your call. I have no control over your perception.

Ever since evangelicals have been known to be the majority, shows want to raise eyebrows. Its getting really old.

Enviromentalist have been covered. Some of the recent episodes involve SMUG (liberals take to smelling their own flatulence while a perfect storm of smugness rises from San Fran and engulfs the entire country), rain forests (more diseases come from rain forests than cures for diseases/ Kenny finds a girlfriend) and Global Warming/NOLA floods (Stan’s leads an expedition to save the world from globalwarming/cooling which he thinks is launched by the flooding of a town). That’s just some of the parodies.

Focusing the jokes on Hilldog's privates seemed like a way to avoid more pointed and caustic jokes about Hillary's politics.

The gag about Hillary's politics was absolutely classic, but the boys used it as a throwaway line. It went over most people's heads.

I’m just curious. If the content of the show is “offensive” to Catholics, then why watch it? If the offended parties aren’t watching it, then whats the problem.....Oh, that’s right, if YOU don’t want to watch it, nobody can watch it. Quick tip, not all of us are Catholic or even Christian, and nobody is going to convert us.

Does “South Park” every make fun of Islam? I don’t watch the show.

I'm sure there will be a hundred other posts responding to these.. but.... SP mocks everyone, even Muzzies (especially Muzzies (re: 'Sand in their vaginas') I'm sure the episode 2banana is referring to is the episode showing Mohammad, and in this case, it was actually making fun of people going nuts over the Danish cartoons, and yes, they play that over and over and over and over.....

Technically, Mohammed has been in over half the episodes if you know where to look....

One taboo they have never attacked is smoking. Guaranteed if they did an episode that lashed out not at smokers, but anti-smokers, they would get more hate mail then ever.
I guess you missed that one too.. it was one of the funniest episodes (Butt Out).. they really trashed Rob Reiner in this...
