HANNITY: Just a short while ago, I had an exclusive sit-down interview with the former New York City mayor and presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani. From his wife Judy to the state of America today, we covered some pretty serious issues, and here's what he had to say.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
HANNITY: Mr. Mayor, good to see you again.
RUDY GIULIANI, FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: Hi, Sean.
HANNITY: First trip to Iowa?
GIULIANI: Yes.
HANNITY: Why did you wait so long?
GIULIANI: We got started a little late. I mean, we're probably -- we're ahead of the old cycles. We're kind of a couple months ahead, but we're probably two or three months behind the present one. I think we've caught up now.
I think we've caught up in fundraising. We had a really great March. We raised over $10 million, got $11 million in the bank. And we've now got ourselves organized here in Iowa. We've got Jim Nussle running our campaign, getting a lot of people. So I think we'll do well in Iowa. And all the polls say we're competitive in Iowa, so we might as well go for it here.
HANNITY: What do you make of the fundraising? I mean, look at the money that Hillary raised. Look at the money Barack Obama raised. Mitt Romney raised a lot. You raised a lot. Is it too much?
GIULIANI: Probably not with all these primaries. I mean, sure, is it too much in the big scheme of things? Sure. But is it necessary when you've got not just Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, but Florida, and California, and New York, and Illinois? These are big states.

But, all the same, there's nothing he stated as his positions that I saw (tough on crime, Iraq war, proactive foreign policy, etc.) which wouldn't be also held by conservative Republicans as well. There's nothing here that really distinguishes Rudy as a candidate who will do things differently, or better, than a conservative Republican would.
I do have to agree, though, a man's family ought to be left out of it all. Make fun of Rudy all you want for wearing a dress, attack him for his absolutely idiotic positions on guns and abortion, but leave his wife alone. That should apply to any and all candidates. He shouldn't have said this, however:
She's a civilian, to use the old mafia distinction, I guess.
That won't sit well with a co-worker of mine (apathetic, who more or less supports McCain "just because"), who is absolutely convinced that Rudy has mafia connexions, and would never vote for him because of it.
Like Freepers have stated many many times and you can look at alot of archive posting - those single issue people are interesed in ONLY 3 Issues - Guns, Gays and Abortions!
When I heard Rudy praise Hitlery, I lost a lot of good feelings for him. Why didn’t he at least evade the question like most politicians would have?
You forgot illegal immigration.
“...people are interesed in ONLY 3 Issues ...”
I think constitutional rights belongs on that list.
I heard it as well... couldn’t believe his disconnect.
Because to slam Hillary right now would not sit well. I can guarantee you NO Republican candidate is going to slam the Democrats running right now. It’s up to the other Democrats to do it to each other at this point. Giuliani has class. Kill her with Kindness. IF he wins the nomination he will slam her into Kingdom come. To do it now would only bring him down in the polls with women and the wrath of the media will not let him forget that.
The Holocaust was just one issue. Why do people harp on that and completely overlook Hitler’s great railroad expansion programs?
When the issue is genocide that drawfs what the Nazis and Stalin did, it is paramount to being a human being. Maybe millions of babies dead mean nothing to you but to me it is murder and anyone who condones it is an accessory to the act.
However, abortion is not the only issue most FReepers have against Rudy(If you don't believe the most part, look up the polls that FR has had over the last few weeks, Rudy sucks with the members of FR), there is the anti-gun, or anti-second amendment if you like, there is also his stance on gays, not to mention his total disregard for laws that applied to him during his term as Mayor of NYC, including hiding the mayoral records of his term so the public couldn't have access to them, wonder what he's hiding?
But back to your abortion remark, shame on people who hold his abortion record against him? No, sir or madam, shame on you and anyone else who would comprimise on killing babies.
He managed to evade the question about what mistakes were made in Iraq. I guess he didn’t want to evade the Hillary question.
Your Sean Hannity quote was about abortion which is why I brought it up.
As you can see from my homepage, I agree with the basis of that statement.
However, as I’ve said before, it’s an entire host of issues with Rudy and they’re not all social. His position on guns is reprehensible, and I’m not convinced of his fiscal conservatism, either.
I count three. Perhaps the term triple issue would be better -- or better still, we could coin one phrase, let's call it "conservatism."
I would call it a broken record.
Not exactly accurate. Despite what most on both sides like to think, most people are not "one issue" voters (not even many people who like to think they are). BUT, people who take a particular position on one issue, ALSO tend to take ideologically similar positions on issues in the same bracket. Hence, someone conservative on abortion will also usually be conservative on guns, gays, illegal immigration, property rights and other social/cultural issues. Hence, while they may articulate one particular issue in particular that they don't like about a candidate, their beef is just as real with him/her on a number of other issues as well. Rudy's problem is not just that he's liberal on guns or abortion, but that he's liberal in general. Even his commitment to economic conservatism is a bit suspect. Hence, people who are conservative in general will not be attracted to him. And unfortunately for Rudy, the Republican party - and especially the activists who have a disproportionate share of the say in who gets to be the party's nominee - is predominantly people who are generally conservative to one degree or another.
Hillary Clinton represents millions of American’s political views...grant it, they are idiot Americans...but, they’re Ameicans just the same!
Add the fact that he is a gun grabber, gay marriage(code word civil union) supporter with a score card that would make Bill Clinton envious on top of being a baby killer and it’s just not one issue with this guy. He is wrong for the Republican party and wrong for America and must be stopped the sooner the better.
