"When I walk my dog, I have a 20-dollar bill in one pocket and mace in the other," says Pedro

Leave the $20 at home at just take the mace. . .and maybe a 38.

I didn’t know any had been cancelled. Folks in my broad discipline (from info tech to librarianship) seem to be jumping all over themselves to get to NOLA and urging their members to participate in the revitalization.

I once heard a hilarious comedy routine given by an army senior NCO. It was based on the idea that someone had broken into his house, he had shot them, and was now testifying in court as to what had happened. His obviously contrived testimony was by the numbers and went on for several minutes:

“...At which point, having retrieved my firearm and ammunition, I stood at the top of the stairs and illuminated my position with the stairway light. I loudly said “Halt! Who is there?”, but received no reply...”

“...And then, after having discharged my firearm a fourth time in an effort to defend myself, and still feeling at risk of bodily harm from the unidentified but illuminated individual at the bottom of the stairs, I again saw him raise his arm while holding what appeared to be a weapon pointing at me in a menacing manner. I again said “Halt! Do not raise your weapon at me or I may be forced to again discharge a single round from my firearm to protect my life...”

Ah-hem.

In the scenario you suggest, yes, it makes more sense. That is not what the woman said. And I can see her point, too. Just that it is so far from thinking of self-defense. And I had this vision of the guys at Lexington Bridge ....

The City of New Orleans is in contempt of a couple of court orders to return them & the mayor & chief of police are thumbing their noses at the Federal Judge & the federal judge hasn’t issued a bench warrant for their arrest yet.

They were handed over/confiscated by the BATFE for holding/destruction.
