When New York did a "Gay Life Now" issue in 2001, only seven of the forty prominent New York gays asked to pose for the cover were willing. Those big shots may have been gay, and they may have been out, but it just wouldn't do for them to be gay and out on the cover of a magazine. "There was a time when the closet was a necessary safe haven," our pal Maer Roshan, who edited the issue, wrote in an angry 2,000-word essay. "But now, it exists as an anachronistic monument to shame. It's time for our public figures to stop hiding in there — and for journalists to stop helping them." Six years and a month later, maybe at least that second part has come true. Here's a first glimpse at the cover of Out magazine's "50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America" issue. (Click here for a larger image.) Those are models holding Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper masks on the cover. Neither, of course, would appear themselves.

Gee, I wonder why Patrick Fitzgerald was left off the list.
Maybe a a Mensa member with an IQ of 140 she is smart enough to stay in the closet if gay.
Whatever her deal is, I can apprecaie that she keeps it private just as it should be.
At least 8 suffer from schizophrenia. ;-)
I didn't know either. Pity. I like her in movies.
I do too. Why are all the FREEPERS so interested in wanting to know who is gay or not? I don’t understand that.
So we can make fun of them of course.
lol. True.
These top 50 are heros in the world of the left.
I’ve only heard of 4 of these people, and I pay attention to celebrity news from time to time. I honestly never knew that Anderson Cooper was gay. I’ve heard Barney Frank made fun of by conservatives, but I didn’t know much about him. Now I know he’s gay as well. Of course Rosie made the list, but they forgot Richard Simmons and Elton John.
I hate how they have to force this lifestyle on society. Why don’t they just keep who they like to sleep with private as opposed to forcing it into mainstream society and public education?
Well, we know they can't multiply by themselves... why should we expect them to know how to count?
By that standard, Richard Nixon is not a crook, Bill Clinton didn't have sex with that woman, Hillary Clinton is the smartest woman on the planet, and most of the people on death row are innocent.
From what I have heard, Jodie Foster is asexual, just not interested in sex, definitely not gay.
Damm. What a waste. What hips, what thighs...
This explains their claims of '10-20%' of the population.
Actually, she has been photographed with her partner in LA several times. Nothing to be ashamed about. She is very private about her personal life, as she has a right to be. This is “open secret” stuff in Hollywood. Nobody cares.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
I disagree. All the gay stuff is constantly thrown at us on TV, movies, books, magazines, music, etc. A rare and obscure lifestyle choice is now thoroughly embedded in the culture.
Here is an example:
I'm not that old, mid 30s, and I remember going to high school and never seeing or hearing about an actual gay person till I was in college. These days, there are thousands of gay clubs in high schools.
Being gay has become "cool", a lot of young people are suckered into being gay or at least "bi."
Not here. This list is about the TOP who do the BOTTOM.
Time for a top 50 heterosexuals list?
1. Chuck Norris
I don’t know most of the names.
lol. Alright your point is made clearly.
‘morning. Thanks. Pity, though...
