Nice scoop by MyDD.com, who have John Kerry on tape saying that political handlers for John McCain approached him regarding the possibility of the senator from Arizona joining the Democratic presidential ticket. This news comes on the heels of reports that John McCain apparently approached Sen. Tom Daschle in 2001 about caucusing with Senate Democrats, wresting control of the chamber away from the GOP (Jim Jeffords beat him to the punch).
The senator's presidential campaign is already reeling from disappointing fundraising numbers for the first quarter. His biggest strength is that he has a huge number of small dollar donors, many of whom probably won't mind that he flirted with crossing the aisle. But as these reports go public, the big money in the GOP will turn off even more.

Yeah you caught me, I am from the DU.
McCain's an egomaniac like a lot of politicians only a little more so.
So is this seared SEARED in Ketchup Boy’s memory?
Bull. Why would any Freeper believe any allegation like this coming from John Kerry? It seems much more likely to me that this is just one more part of the Democrat effort to wound our potential candidates. Not for one second do I believe McCain wanted to be on a Kerry ticket.
McCain a front for the Dems? I’m sorry but that simply flies in the face of reality. McCain is McCain, and we know what that means. But all this willingness to swallow every Democrat claim about the man is just total shark jumping.
I don’t trust the Kerry Camp as far as I could throw Ted Kennedy. And I don’t need his opinions to tell me that I shouldn’t vote for McQueeg. I’ve long since figured that one out on my own.

No. McCain rebuffed Kerry’s lying ass and Kerry almost cried about it. Maybe this is payback.
Yep, McCain is done...his 15 minutes of fame have long passed....there’s a reason why the Elephant is the Republican logo.....
It’s the nastiest slur that can be made against McCain, that he was willing to be a presidential running mate with Kerry.
I’d sue if I were McCain.
McCain is on a slippery slope and if you watch and listen to ‘Leslie’ Graham, in the near future, you will hear him sound more and more like a conservative Republican in an attempt to win back SC voters.
He was pinning all him hopes on VP slot with McCain but he isn’t entirely stupid and sees that dream disappearing soon and thinks he can come back here to save his political life.
Note to Graham: We have your pink slip ready and waiting.
McCain was looking for a groundswell of support from most of the Republicans, all of the independents and some of the Democrats for a center-right Unity third party or some variation thereof. A "McCain coalition" something like the Reagan coalition. It didn't happen. It may in 4 or 8 years but McCain's time has run out.
So why does he keep coming in second place in the media polls?
Rush was saying that most of these pollsters have a hard time reaching people these days because the number of people that have hardlined phones & that are actually home to answer them has declined so much - most younger people use their cell phones & pollsters have a very difficult time reaching them. Most of the people polled in these telephone polls you see are elderly people that basically get their news from CBSNBCABC.
Anyway, McCain and Weaver were looking to build a populist coalition. The meetings were real but didn't fit McCain's plan. McCain threw his support to Bush.
Let him go third party. The number of republican votes he’d get would be small because most pubbies and conservatives know the man is insane. His current poll numbers and floundering campaign are proof.
Democrats are the same as other socialists and communists. The will tell any lie if they think it helps their failed ideology.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman. I repeatedly dove into the water, trying to save her. I have a New Deal for America. Global warming holds earth in the balance. Et cetera, ad nauseum.
This might be the only truth Kerry has ever told.
