A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AMERICA'S HERO:

Agent Ramos is in a federal prison cell - about the size of a bathroom - 23 hours a day. There is a small window; but it is painted dark gray. He is allowed out of his cell one hour a day "for a walk."

Reading material is forbidden. The family and advocates have pleaded with prison officials to let Agent Ramos be provided with reading material. But prison staff state: they must enforce the rule: NO READING MATERIAL in solitary confinement.

The 911 Families sought to present Agent Ramos with a Holy Bible; prison officials stated Agent Ramos, in solitary confinement, could not receive the Holy Bible.

The 911 Families and members of congress contacted prison officials. After extreme pressure, the prison allowed Agent Ramos to receive the Bible. Agent Ramos is allowed no photos in his cell...sleeps on a cot. Agent Ramos can only read one book, the Bible, but:

AGENT RAMOS CAN READ ALL OF THE MAIL SENT TO HIM!

HERE IS THE REQUEST DIRECTLY FROM AGENT RAMOS BELOW:

Agent Ramos would like you to send him letters! His wife, Monica, and father-in-law, Joe, said yesterday: "PLEASE write to Agent Ramos America."

Monica said Agent Ramos used to receive about 50 letters a day - now he is only getting 10 letters a day. Or less. Agent Ramos said the prison staff gage how muchAmerica supports him via his mail volume.

PLEASE write Agent Ramos once a week or more! PLEASE get your children and grandchildren to send Agent Ramos a letter! Have your friends and relatives write a letter - hold an AGENT RAMOS LETTER WRITING party.

You cannot send him a postcard: ONLY a letter in an envelope.

The letters must be addressed EXACTLY as follows:

Why is he in Solitary Confinement?
Is it punitive? Punishment for something he did while in jail?

I understand the need for "Administrative Segregation" due to the need to provide for his safety, but not Solitary..

Solitary is reserved for dangerous prisoners, or as punishment for serious infractions of prison rules and regulations..

Under administrative segregation, such rules are relaxed, and reading material, etc., is allowed..
In fact, under Federal Law, certain amenities are required..

Solitary confinement is used in many prisons for violent inmates and those inmates perceived as having gang-related affiliations.
Some prisons are designed specifically for it. The original prisons, as envisioned by the Quakers, called for solitary confinement, but the practice was halted because of the detrimental effects it had on prisoners.
However, the practice never completely ended.
In the 1980s, solitary confinement became a regular feature of prisons, and it has become the sole form of incarceration in so-called Security Housing Units or Supermax prisons.

In a Supermax prison, the cells are eight-by-ten feet and windowless.
The cells are grouped in "pods."
The cell doors are perforated with holes large enough for guards to see inside the cell, but small enough to obstruct the prisoner's vision and light.
All a prisoner can see through the door is another white wall.
Each cell is furnished with a built-in bunk with a toilet-sink unit.
Nothing is allowed on the walls.
Prisoners may be allowed television, radio, and books, but these are taken away as punishment for any rule infractions.

Prisoners in solitary confinement are kept in their cells, under surveillance, for 22.5 hours a day.
Unlike the rest of the prison population, inmates in solitary confinement may not take advantage of educational or recreational programs.
The 90 minutes outside the cell may be divided between visiting a small library, washing, and exercising in a pen connected to the pod.
Prisoners are strip-searched by the guards before and after visiting any place and are placed in waist restraints and handcuffs when being escorted.

Lou Dobbs did a great hour-long program on Ramos and Complean last weekend. These two men definitely need our support. What has happened to them is a thorough corruption of the justice system.

IMHO, that DA Johnny Sutton is on the take from Mexican druglords. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a descendant of the crook Willy Sutton.

I was just giving a possible reason to why the guy was in solitary confinement. I don’t know the story that well, but apparently some people feel he should be in general population instead of solitary. I think if I were in jail, I would want solitary because less chance of getting screwed with both literally and figurative.
