Thompson is fulfilling his role. Take votes away from other candidates in the hopes his friend’s fortunes rise. Thompson is McCain’s very good friend.

"Thompson is McCain’s very good friend."

Hillary's is Rudy's good friend and clone. (except Hillary isn't a gun grabber).

I’m watching that squirrel,Hannity, interview Gulianni with pudgeball questions about did we do the “right thing” in Iraq. He won’t ask him why he wants to kill babies and loves to dress in drag. The main essence of the interview is “how much money do you have in the bank?” “How do you FEEL about hillary?” God help the sheeple.

Thompson is fulfilling his role.

Peach that only occurs should Thompson actually enter the race. If he doesn’t enter then those votes that say they would vote for him have to disperse to other candidates. I’m not sure McCain would be the largest recepient of them.

The thing these polls are beginning to demostrate is that there is a top tier of either 3 or 4 candidates depending if Thompson is in or out. The bottom tier haven’t gained enough to even become a threat to even the lowest of the top tier. The winner will come out of the top tier.

I expect to see some of the bottom tier begin to drop out after the Ames Iowa straw poll in Aug. In 1999 candidates like Hatch, Dole, Kasich, Quayle began abandoning the campaign leaving a few like Bauer, Forbes, Keyes to challenge McCain and Bush. Bauer and Forbes bailed after the first few primaries leaving Bush, McCain and Keyes. Expect something similiar to happen this time, imo.

All the posturing, pontificating and hoping displayed on this forum won’t change the eventual winner coming from within the top tier.

Spoken like a true Rudybot. This is just the start of Rudy’s slide to the bottom. Fred Thompson will walk all over him. The country is starting to understand that Rudy is only #1 because the msm says he is. Once they realize that there are other options and that Rudy can’t win in Nov. they are running away from him. Rudy spells death to the Republicans.

Rudy is a baby killer and gun grabbing leftist, and you love him for it.

Thompson has been taking votes away from Rudy, not McCain. McCain's numbers have not gone up since Thompson began kicking the idea around. McCain is dead in the water, and nothing will save him, not even your theory.

Even though McCain an Thompson may b friends, their ideologies are very far apart.

Um...how’s that working, Peach?

He’s closing in on McCain and will soon overtake him in the polls.

Wrong. I'm strong for Thompson but McCain is my last choice. Thompson support does not translate to probable McCain support. Thompson is more conservative than McCain, an excellent speaker, connects with people, and hasn't spent the last 6 years trying to prove he's a "maverick*."

Why bother even having a primary? Anyone who would consider voting for a candidate other than Giuliani is obviously not a Republican. All trolls who support someone other than Giuliani should be kickec out of the GOP and off Free Republic. I am so sick of people on Free Republic shilling for these other candidates. All this debate about any othe candidate besides Giuliani is just helping Hillary.
