Welcome to the Free Republic indeed!

Post that you’d rather see Abdulmalak Rigi (A Jihadist heroin smuggler who fought for the Taliban) dead than being helped by the US, and get lambasted as some commie...

For the record, I worked for Lynn Swann, voted for Bednarik, voted against Santorum... There are those of us who don’t fall into easily defined political categories. That I’m not exactly “one of you” doesn’t make me “one of them”. What kind of cred do you need around here? Blood from a liberal?

Anyway, apologies for the repeat thread... does somebody here think I’m some returning poster? True newb. That’s me.

As for my tenure here, I’m not here to troll, “get your goat” with inflammatory stories, resort to personal attacks (although I see that won’t get one banned... but I have class), or just generally be an ass. If I don’t get banned (for what, I don’t know... not voting for Bush?), we’ll disagree plenty- but I will keep it civil. We probably see eye to eye more than you’d care to admit.

Thanks for all the love! Who says only liberals can be compassionate? :-p

For an “independent thinker”, your thought patterns are pretty typical of a liberal — kind of loose.

“”Did we learn nothing from Afghanistan in the 1980s””

Yes, we assisted indiginous people in Afghanistan who hated the communists and began the collapse the towering evil empire. It is a lefty trollope that our support to Afghani’s somehow brought about Bin Ladin. If you read “The Looming Tower”, it is clear that Bin Ladin was far from any real combat action or US support. Using an almost liberal-magical theater construct Bin Ladin made himself an Afghan hero, but its not true. The fighting Afghans that we supported disdained the pretending Arabs that Bin Laden led.

“””Iran in the 1970s”””

Yes, we had a great learning experience of not using force to respond to an act of war and demonstrating to the world that we could adopt an impotent stance.

And being a nebuous thinker, you have not listed the counter examples of the 1980s - Angola, El Salvador and Honduras, Poland where we successfully supported resistance to communist aggression and domination.

“””And in a final note”””....you again evidence disorganized analysis when you simply ask if this terrorism. Read the article again. The guerillas are not attacking defenseless women and children as the Sunni/Al Queda heroes of the left are in Iraq. Per the ABC report, THAT YOU YOURSELF POSTED the group is reponsible for the deaths and kidnappings of more than a dozen Iranian soldiers and officials.

Gosh, if lefties could just get this terrorism thing right. Attacking soldiers wearing uniforms (per the article “”videos showing Iranian soldiers and border guards it says it has captured and brought back to Pakistan.”” — not terrorism. Car bombing a group of kids or women in a market — terrorism.

Guerillas are not necessarily terrorists — it depends on their tactics and targets. Is it really that difficult a judgement to make?

Lastly, Iran has been doing exactly this to American soldiers for months, killing 175. On top of all their acts of terrorism (Marine Barracks - Lebanon; Bombing of U.S. Embassy in Beirut; Kidnapping of William Higgins US soldier in UN assignment; and constant attacks on Israel). Did you have the same cry of anguish and accusation at them for those acts?

If we can collapse the terror-master Mullahs via economic sanctions and supporting their internal enemies good. Hope we can do it before our internal enemies especially the ones they have planted damage us.

(although I see that won’t get one banned... but I have class)

Snarky insinuations about America sponsoring terrorism does much to illuminate the nature of this class.

If you can't see the difference between those who target the innocent, and those who are dying trying to protect the innocent, then how can a reasonable rational person have a discussion with you?
