it’s down to 28 degress here...lots of things are going to get frost bit. I have too many flowers and not enough coverings. I HATE WINTER! It just won’t go away this year!

I am giving up on the daffodils andcutting them for Easter decorations. To save my tulips, I will cover them with a mix of dirt, mulch, and leaves and then top them with a flower pot.

I will be outside as soon as the sun is up tomorrow. Mums are especially in peril, because this is their most vulnerable time. I will be covering them with about 4-5 inches of topsoil I bought at a garden center today.

Roses are going to be cut back and then covered with dirt and one of those foam pots that look like stoneware. Hostas are getting the dirt-pot treatment as well. Most of the daylilies are going to have to fend for themselves. They may lose some leaves but will send up new growth before blooming time.

This is a big project because I have many, many flower beds.

Maybe the front blew itself out over Indiana. We thought we might get storms sometime tonight. I hope not.

Where is snugs tonight? I received a box from her today and wanted to thank her.

If I were you, I would rake as much leaves and mulch around them as I could and then top with a sheet.

Hi love, I see your tag line. I predicted Romney as soon as I heard he was running. I’m still thinking that way. The only thing that might change my mind would be Fred Thompson getting in the race. I haven’t decided on who I will support yet. It’s way too early. My prediction of Romney is based purely on my woman’s intuition.

Our tulips should survive because they're really close to the house.

Unfortunately with my class schedule tomorrow I can't spend much time out there.

I share your disgust with the current state of FReeperland and have thought about taking a permanent hiatus — who needs the aggravation. HOWEVER, I stay for two reasons:

1.) I love my fellow DOSErs (they’re such a refreshing contrast to the Marxist-Chomskyites that I work with on a daily basis)! and

2.) Because the White House reads the DOSE, I feel it is our ‘contribution to the cause’ to provide the President and his staff with a daily source of support and encouragement!!

So ignore the rest of the FR threads, but continue coming here . . . We’re on duty until January 2009!!

I have not been posting very much lately. I am tired of the DU type of posting. I have enough problems without endangering my blood pressure. Thursday is the 1st anniversary without my hubby. I am heartbroken that he is not with us this year. I have been trying to keep busy with my genealogy work and have added about 1500 names this past week. But, at night, my feelings come to the surface.
