If anti-war protesters invaded your city and forced your local government to spend an additional unbudgeted $500,000 on increased police presence, to whom would you send the bill?
The city of Tacoma, Wash., decided that the U.S. military should cover the expense.
According to an AP story on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer website:
Tacoma police say last month's 12-day anti-war protests cost the city an unbudgeted $500,000 to provide a large-scale law enforcement presence.
The rough estimate covers overtime, regular compensation, equipment and food for hundreds of workers from Tacoma police and other agencies. . . .
"That's a tremendous hit on our budget -- a half-million dollars of unexpected expense," said Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma, adding that the military would get the first invoice.
Exactly what act of courage and self-sacrifice are the anti-war protesters making?
Some things just can’t be made up.
Yeah. How about sending a bill to the organizers?
I’ll be curious to see exactly how the first ‘invoice’ to ‘the military’ is addressed.
The Military
Washington, D.C. ?
I believe that’s what the city of Arlington, Va. did.
Wonder if Tacoma sends a bill to Mexico for the money taxpayers spend on illegals?
(chuckle, chuckle)
F*****g $%#@!!
They will be hearing from me today.
Exactly. Defund MoveOn for a half mil.
It is wrong to bill the American taxpayer for the actions of international (and internally funded) agitators.
Anyone want to take bets against their getting it?
Idiots. So if we have a protest about social security “crazy checks” they’d send the bill to the social security administration?
Dear City of Tacoma;
Kiss my a$$, all of it
Sincerely
This reads like a joke.
"Please hold this while we process your invoice..."
I would bet they have no chance of collecting. Any ‘judge’ who had this crap in front of him would laugh as he tossed it out. Of course, that’s not taking into consideration the lunatic judges who should know better. But, if push comes to shove, in the end it will get tossed back to the city, IMO.
ping, I hate Washington Liberals.
Bill is not a very good mayor. Any sane individual in Tacoma should have budgeted for Moonbat unrest.
Send the bill to the org that printed the posters and rented the buses: ANSWER.
Really. They have an address. And obviously they have a bank account. DO IT!
This is outrageous and must not stand. Talk about ‘blame the victim.’ But of course they think they are going after the deep pockets....
