I don't have a dog/cat ping list, so took you freepers off another thread, so you all can ping your lists.
Furry friends alert!........
Good grief- wouldn't it be easier to list the foods that AREN'T on the list?
This is really....bizarre.
One of my dogs loves the Dingo Goof Balls. He's been vomiting a lot lately and is not feeling well today. I wonder if I should stop giving them to him.
Been feeding my dogs (2 of them, combined 30 years so far) nothing but Purina Dog Chow and Milk Bones (with occasional table scraps). So far, so good.
Good grief. This is playing out like a hollyweird movie. But is it a conspiracy movie or horror flick?
https://list.nih.gov/archives/fda-recalls-l.html (this recall alert list is a very good idea, Thanks)
"Laboratory testing has shown that some samples of these chicken jerky treats were contaminated with Salmonella. The company is recalling all these products out of an abundance of caution.
Salmonella can potentially be transferred to people handling these pet treats, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products."
BTTT
I don't usually bump my owns threads, but this isn't JUST about pets now, it's getting more serious and frightening (read below).
"Healthy people infected with Salmonella can have some or all of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.."
This is another type of tainted food, and can be spread to humans, and even picked up via HANDLING the product. Think about this as far as persons sick and with compromised immune systems.
Better to be safe than sorry.
I've put my dogs on a chicken, carrot and rice diet. I don't trust any dogfood products right now. We even made our own dog biscuits. It's kind of a pain, but worth the peace of mind.
My husband is picking up a bag of Nature's Logic dry food on his way home from work today. Another Freeper reccomended it as a good brand.
I was just thinking I should just start cooking their food myself. I did it for fourteen years for our other dog because of a stomach illness he had.
Right now they eat Wellness dry food and Nature's Variety Freeze Dried Chicken and Turkey.
I am concerned about the treat though and will stop giving them to him until I find out more. Maybe it's time for a trip to the vet.
Just curious, what did you make for your dog all those years?
Hope your pup feels better soon!
Good grief! I put Dingo's in my dog's stockings at Christmas. Nobody got sick thank goodness. I was considering buying some more but I don't guess I will.
I think Terrorists must have hit the dog food supply just to show us what they can do. This is ridiculous.
Well yea. What's to wonder?
yes! And call the vet.
Look for treats online from sitsay or onlynaturalpet.
Don't just call the vet, get the dog TO the vet ASAP!!!
Links everyone might want to read. Helps to know before you buy:
I may be overeacting (naw) but I just called my vet to tell them about this latest recall. They are not on the internet and took all the info over the phone, plus some link addresses I picked up from freepers on another thread about this subject, so they can have someone check them out.
The assistant told me that they had to cancel all vaccinations and routine appts. today because they have the vet hospital FULL of sick dogs and cats with symptoms from the wheat gluton. She said this is NOT normal and she fears it will get lots worse.
I asked when the sick pets owners said was the last they fed their pets food from the recall lists, and she said they told them different times, one as recently as Thursday.
I live in a small town, very rural county, and if this is happening here it is serious. Contact your vets and ask them how many cases they have. The vets assistant said they are overwhelmed, and they think it WILL get worse, they are expecting more cases.
dogs are not suseptible (sp?) to sam and ella. It's just a fact.
Thanks AC, this is getting to be frightening. Your links have been very useful to me.
