Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad praised his country's ability to recruit "hundreds of suicide bombers a day," saying "suicide is an invincible weapon."

Ahmadinejad made the comments during a visit to a site south Iran used to prepare suicide bombers during the Iraq-Iran war, Iranian state television reported.

He praised Hizbullah fighters for their suicidal spirit during last summer's confrontation with Israel.

"Suicide bombers in this land showed us the way, and they enlighten our future," he said.

The Iranian president said the will to commit suicide was "one of the best ways of life."

Holy Week is a time when Christians think of the crucifixion of Jesus. This year, they should also be meditating on another crucifixion: that of a 14-year-old boy, nailed to a cross by Islamists in Iraq.

This diabolical crime was part of a campaign by jihadists to extinguish one of the most ancient Christian Churches in the world, that of the Assyrians. Thanks to the indifference of the West, the campaign is going jolly well.

Peretz green lights IDF pinpoint strikes in Gaza

THE JERUSALEM POST Apr. 2, 2007

Defense Minister Amir Peretz has granted the IDF permission to renew pinpoint operations against terrorists within the Gaza Strip, effectively ending a months old cease-fire, Army Radio reported Sunday.

Peretz said Sunday evening that Hamas is exploiting the period of relative calm in the coastal strip to improve its military capabilities. He added that Hamas has intensified efforts to strike at Israeli security forces patrolling the fence that encircles Gaza with roadside bombs.

The defense minister's comments echoed recent statements made by IDF Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, who said it is upon the army to take action against the strengthening of Hamas' military forces.

Last week, for the first time since the cease-fire went into effect, the IDF succeeded in intercepting an Islamic Jihad rocket squad moments before it attempted to launch Kassam rockets from the northern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

Hamas targeting Salafis in Gaza

Sheikh dead in Gaza power struggle

Eyewitnesses told The Jerusalem Post that Adnan Manasreh, 30, a prominent member of the Salafi branch in the Gaza Strip, was gunned down as he walked out of a mosque in the Shajaiyeh neighborhood of Gaza City last Friday. Two of his relatives were wounded in the attack.

"Four masked gunmen approached him and opened fire, killing him instantly," the witnesses reported. "They fled in a white Peugeot."

A senior PA security official in the Gaza Strip told the Post that "Hamas's fingerprints are all over this murder." He said that intelligence gathered by the PA security forces showed that the assassination was carried out by members of Hamas's armed wing, Izzaddin Kassam.

The official noted that tensions between the Salafis and Hamas have been mounting in the Gaza Strip ever since Ayman Zawahiri, the No. 2 in al-Qaida, accused Hamas of abandoning its ideology and "selling out" to Israel and the US. The Salafis are very close to al-Qaida and the two have been trying to establish a presence in the Gaza Strip, much to the dismay of Hamas.

Hamas Tried to Take Control of the Palestinian Police in the West Bank

It was supposed to be a quiet, secret mission - that would lead to Hamas taking over the Palestinian police in the West Bank. Hundreds of Hamas activists were recruited and trained in the West Bank prior to their entry into the police, but the quick reaction of the Israeli security services and the IDF cut short the plan. In mid-2006, just a few months after winning the elections, Hamas decided to establish the Executive Force in Gaza, a police unit answering directly to the Interior Minister. Soon afterward, it decided to set up a similar force in the West Bank, in opposition to the security forces loyal to Mahmoud Abbas. Since an independent Hamas unit would be an easy target for the Israeli security services, Hamas decided on "quiet penetration" of the Palestinian police.

Released Hamas prisoners with a terror background formed the initial force, numbering some 80 activists, whose purpose was to recruit hundreds more. Some 300 were recruited and underwent training, where they received instructions on what to say if questioned, and to hide any affiliation with Hamas. Israel began to arrest the Hamas operatives, and by January had arrested some 250, which has effectively blocked the plan.

Saraah Olson’s strange trip through the U.S. war on terror”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The first time Saraah Olson called the FBI about her husband was on Feb. 26, 1993. At 12:27 p.m. Eastern time, a truck bomb had exploded inside the garage of New York City’s World Trade Center.

While working on a term paper at her Garden Grove apartment, Olson turned on her television and saw coverage of the explosion, which killed six and wounded 1,042 people. She immediately called her husband, Hisham Diab, an Egyptian immigrant and insurance salesman for MetLife whom she had married two years earlier. She reached Diab at his office in Carson, California.

“They blew up the Trade Center,” Olson told him, her voice frantic with disbelief. “They keep saying, ‘The Arabs did it; the Arabs did it. They are blaming Arabs.’” Olson recalls that her husband didn’t seem the least bit surprised.

He uttered exactly two words. “They should,” he said. Then he hung up the telephone.

Olson had been growing suspicious about her husband for several months, ever since Diab had invited a blind Egyptian cleric to stay in their apartment building for three days while he gave inspirational sermons at the local mosque. The cleric, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, would later be charged in connection with the Trade Center bombing. But more than anything, it was Diab’s apparent lack of surprise and cold reaction to the Trade Center bombing that led Saraah Olson to call the FBI.

“I was like, son of a bitch,” Olson says. “What kind of person would say, ‘they should’ unless they know something they’re not supposed to know?”

Immediately after calling Diab, Olson dialed the number of the Santa Ana office of the FBI. A nice-sounding woman answered the telephone and asked how she could help. “I need to give someone some information,” Olson said. “I don’t know who I should talk to. I married an Arab. He’s Egyptian. He’s a friend of the blind cleric. He has some extreme political beliefs, and I just told my husband they blew up the Trade Center and are blaming Arabs, and he said they should. I just think somebody should look into that.”

As Olson recalls the conversation, the woman thanked her for calling and hung up.

“She didn’t take my name or anything,” Olson recalls.

So Olson called the FBI again. She demanded that the woman write down her name and telephone number. This time, the woman was less friendly.

“We’re not interested in that,” she said.

Nearly 12 years later—and after what she estimates were nearly three dozen fruitless telephone calls to the FBI—Saraah Olson visited New York’s Ground Zero. It was September 2004, three years after the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. She took a brief detour on her trip from John F. Kennedy airport to the Manhattan offices of ABC News. She had just flown to New York to tape a segment of Primetime Live in which she would recount how her ex-husband recruited an Orange County teenager named Adam Yahiye Gadahn into Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network, Al-Qaeda.

Olson would claim that Diab and his best friend and next-door neighbor, a Palestinian-American named Khalil Deek—both of whom, like Gadahn, disappeared in the Middle East shortly before 9/11—were members of an Orange County terrorist sleeper cell. At the time, the FBI had just identified Gadahn, a masked figure calling himself “Azzam the American” in videos aired on Al Jazeera, as an emerging voice of propaganda for Al-Qaeda.

In the tape, Gadahn warned Americans they should convert to Islam or risk terrorist attacks that will dwarf those of 9/11. “The streets of America will run red with blood,” he predicted.”
