Separating Mullahs From Their Moolah

Axis Of Evil: As Hezbollah’s leadership admits Tehran is pulling its strings, Ohio takes a step toward making a contribution to the war on terror: Don’t defund the war; defund the terrorists and their state sponsors.
Despite overwhelming evidence, Democrats have long denied there ever was any link between Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and terrorist organizations like al-Qaida. Even as American and British soldiers are being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan by Iranian-made high-tech explosives, they still refuse to connect the dots between terrorists and their state sponsors.
While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants us to follow the teachings of the Iraq Study Group and talk to the thugocracies like Iran, Iran is otherwise occupied in destabilizing the Middle East.
The latest evidence is a confession of sorts by Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Naim Kassem in an April 15 interview with the Iranian Arabic-language TV station al-Qawthar.
Kassem told the interviewer that all terrorist attacks, suicide bombings and other operations in Lebanon and against Israel must first be approved by the ayatollahs in Tehran: “In order to know what is permitted and what is forbidden regarding the jihad, we ask for and receive overall permission and only then do we carry out the operation.”
According to Kassem, “The religious doctrine which dictates Hezbollah’s actions in general, and those relating to the jihad in particular, is based on the rulings of the spiritual leader in Tehran. The spiritual leader has the power to permit our actions, and the spiritual leader can forbid them.” Not likely.
As we have noted, Iran has supplied Shiite militants in Iraq with roadside bombs so sophisticated that the word “improvised” before “explosive device” no longer applies.
