Imam to Pakistani government: enforce Sharia law within seven days or we will do it ourselves

Islamabad (AsiaNews/Dt) – It [is] an ultimatum not a request: if within a week Sharia law is not enforced throughout the country than [sic] true Muslims “will islamify society on their own”. Maulana Abdul Aziz, Imam of the Lal Masjid Mosque and director of Jamia Hafsa Madrassah has said. Speaking after Friday prayers to thousands of faithful, Aziz clarified: “If the government ignores our requests than we will have to enforce them ourselves”. The man then asked for the closure of “all brothels and gaming houses as soon as possible”, also adding in this case that “that aim may only be achieved thanks to the help of the Madrassah students”. The Imam’s threats must not be ignored, because just days ago female students from the Madrassah directed by Aziz attacked a suspected brothel taking the women who lived within the house hostage. Sources say that the Madrassah religious leaders are preparing a “list of impure places” to be forcibly shut down. The plan concluded Aziz, “is not limited to Islamabad. We will meet April 5th to decide on an line of action together with other good Muslims”.

Well, Pakistan may consider getting off the keyster more often and starting whoopin' some keyster a little more?

I am thinking that if they don't take the fight to the enemy, the enemy is going to take the fight to them.

Am I mistaken, or has some emboldened the enemy?

At the end, it will be a question of whether the madrassahs get leveled and the imams hanged, versus all submitting to radical Islam

Taliban Turns on Al Qaeda
http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/india/articles/20070327.aspx

March 27, 2007: In Pakistan, the government got several more tribes to agree to help fight Islamic terrorists. This deal has not worked out so well in nearby Waziristan, but is the best the government can do. The deal calls for the tribes to "refrain" from supporting the Taliban or Islamic terrorists in general. In return, the government stays out of tribal affairs, unless invited in.

March 26, 2007: In northwest Pakistan, police caught a group of Taliban trying to convince high school students at at religious school, to quit and join the Taliban. The Taliban reacted to the police showing up by opening fire. No one was injured, but the Taliban got away.

March 25, 2007: In central India, four Maoists surrendered to the government. They said they were ill and tired of fighting. The Maoists are demanding that the government halt its program of recruiting people to inform against the Maoists. This has hurt the Maoists, who are normally pretty paranoid and trigger-happy over real or imagined "government agents."

March 21, 2007: The fighting in Pakistan, between pro-Taliban tribesmen and foreign Islamic militants, has left over a hundred people dead. Most of the victims are Uzbeks and Chechens, who had fled Afghanistan in 2001, after the Taliban were overthrown. Unable to go home, where they are wanted for terrorism, the Islamic militants have not behaved themselves in Pakistan either. The tribesmen don't like foreigners in general, and that, in the end, is what did the al Qaeda men in. Another group of foreigners is supposed to be guarding Osama bin Laden somewhere in the Afghan border region. Some of the al Qaeda foreigners, have better relations with the locals. But over time, foreigners have more and more trouble sustaining themselves among the xenophobic tribesmen.

March 20, 2007: South Waziristan, a region of Pakistan along the Afghan border, fighting between tribesmen and Uzbek members of al Qaeda, left nearly sixty dead, most of them Uzbek. Out of respect for their Islamic conservative attitudes, and connection to Osama Bin Laden, the Uzbeks had been allowed to settle in the are in 2002. Several hundred Uzbeks, and Islamic militants from other parts of the world, congregated in the area, married local women, and drifted away from the terrorism business. Unfortunately, they drifted towards crime and banditry. This brought them into growing conflict with nearby tribes, and now all-out war. The Uzbeks, and their allies, are good fighters, but vastly outnumbered.

You know, when I was "at University", I knew half a dozen students from Pakistan and they absolutely zero interest in Islam. (The Iranians were split among Islamists, Communists and realist about 40/50/10. The realist lost, obviously.)

here is a editorial

I think it is a pretty good read but at the end of it, Zaffar Abbas says, It may take a while for the decision-makers to understand how dire the situation has become.

More like seven days...

I think the tribal areas are poor people who care about survival mostly (please correct me if I am wrong). In most of these cases, the people who support the tribal areas the most will get the tribal leaders support.

I may be wrong about Waziristan though. It may be a bit more wild out that way.

Blame Carter. Pakistanis who grew during the Eisenhower-JFK years were thoroughly westernized. That buffoon Carter Sab radicalized the Islamic world.

It is my understanding that Carter hates Jews. It was probably part of Carter's foreign policy.

what a sick, sick woman in the picture.....
hopefully she can be taken hostage, and soon....
although, I hate to think of how much money we will have to pay them to keep her......

maulana abdul aziz, imam of the lal masjid mosque...
battle-lines are being drawn.....
the woman in the picture and this guy deserve each other
Pak government has a decision to make.....
looks can be deceiving, but if I were a gambler, I'd be betting time is running out, and decisions will have to be made.

I can't read minds, but operationally, Carter is indistinguishable from a cryptoantisemite.

Is it legal to bribe to gain votes?
If Politician A offered a bottle of whiskey to a person to get them to vote for Politician A, that is a illegal act right?

If Politician B offered Politician C 24 million to vote for Politician B's bill, isn't this buying a vote?

Now, if the ACLU can sue Donald Rumsfeld and the Supreme Court over turned it and the ACLU does it anyway. Then why can't we sue Peloser and Scary Ried for bribery and vote tampering or something?

Now, how about this one:

Tokyo Rosie's rhetoric borders sedition and/or treason:

The legal definition of sedition is as follows:

SEDITION - Conduct which is directed against a government and which tends toward insurrection but does not amount to treason. Treasonous conduct consists of levying war against the United States or of adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

Ok, here is the why I say she borders sedition:

The words 'tends toward insurrection but does not amount to treason' are important here. Her words tend to insurrection by saying our Government brought down the WTC towers on 911. What if some John Hinkly Jr type believes Tokyo Rosie and goes out and does something stupid? Tokyo Rosie's words could incite revolt against our Government.

Now, the words 'or of adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort' are important here. Tokyo Rosie said something like the US paints a broad picture of the ME that no one could think Iran could do anything good. These words lend aid and comfort to our enemy.

I don't know if Amadjihad has ever used her words to help his cause. If Amadjihad ever does, Tokyo Rosie should go down.

If Tokyo Rosie or Nancy Peloser were living in any other country acting the way they have been, they would be pusing up daisies.
