I hope this is a lesson for companies who go to turd world countries for any kind of food stuff, however cheap.

I just bought some of this yesterday, but hadn't used it yet (although my dingbat son opened the package for no reason ...)
I'll take it back to the vet on Monday and exchange it for a different brand.

Thanks, save.
I still haven't seen my brand of dry food on the list, but I'm getting a bit worried that few, if any, brands are going to be clear of this problem.

Bahbah, is it worth calling the vet to find out what you can make at home for your cats until there's some kind of all-clear?
It's a hassle, but your cats are part of your family.

You really don't want me to discuss how I think it got in there (no I don't think it was an act of aggression or terror).

Yes, it is well worth it.
Actually, I have a friend who has been doing this for years (she's a bit on the nutty side when it comes to health and nutrition, but she researches thoroughly). I remember some of the things she said, but I'm going to call later today and get a refresher.
I'm concerned about the affects of a sudden big change in their diet as well.

Thanks SL, I heard that on the radio.
We use Purina ONE for our two Chessies. Hopefully they are immune to Asian sources.

Thanks, my brand has not been mentioned yet, but I am very worried and my kitty is very fussy. She won't eat just anything. I am thinking about getting some roasted chicken an feeding her that and cheese until this is over.

Now you have two friends who are on the nutty side when it comes to health and nutrition. Although I will be the first to admit that I eat cheezits and drink Classic Coca Cola when under stress.

It is my understanding that some of the wheat fields in China are deliberately sprayed with rat poison to get rid of their rather large rodent problem. It seems that some of this wheat was harvested and processed. It makes sense to purchase products which are processed exclusively in the US due to strict pesticide regulations, Purina and Delmonte products are two manufactures.

From what I know about cats. Their diet needs to be 36% protein as apposed to dogs who only need less than 20% protein.
Pureed canned tuna fish and white rice in those proportions should be fine for a short term fix.
