Neither wanted to be identified prior to the FDA's formal announcement this morning."

I find those statements both presumptuous and arrogant.
Not useful whatsoever.
I have little enough patience with neurotic controlling types who constantly feel entitled to criticize what I eat... and who feel compelled to tell me what I should eat.
Sorry there, those weren't my words I copied a post someone sent me. I was only trying to pass along some useful information for those looking for safe food to feed their pets.
Everyone would do well to subscribe to Whole Dog Journal. They rate all the foods each year, good and bad. They are not supported by advertising so are not beholden to any one company to say things that are not true.
I supplemented with Balance Diet for a while, but had a lot of problems with shipping and area to store. My neighbor had the same problem. Dick Van Patten's foods tend to be a little high in copper, Cockers (my breed) have a tendency to copper toxosis, so I stick to the raw diet with some Raw Instinct to supplement.
Are you a dog? She was discussing what people feed their dogs... and it's pretty pathetic, one reason so many dogs are sick and over weight. Dogs were a lot healthier back when they were fed table scraps and not vaccinated up the ying yang.
That is what bothered me, the list of companies using Menu Foods for their manufacturing.... that and Menu issuing a notice in Canada late last year that there was a problem and specifically stating not for release in the USA... guess they were more worried about their stock than our pets.
If my dogs hear you are saying they can't have pizza crusts I'm afraid your life might be in danger.
Good thing they can't read.
~LOL~.... no pizza crust Dinsdale's dogs! Bet they would love a good meaty beef rib to chew on for a day though... just cut off most of the fat and let them go at it, the meat acts like dental floss on their teeth and gums. When they start getting the edges sharp (long after the meat is gone) throw them away.
The dog I just recently adopted is supposed to be a malti/poo but has ears as long as a cocker so I may have to re-think DVP's food. I will probably get it tomorrow anyway to tide me over until I can get something else since I'm concerned with the Iams dry.
We are very limited here [small town], so I will have to order over the internet.
The only concern I have with the raw food diet is they should be frozen according to the website and I don't have a very large freezer. If I read the info correctly raw foods will tend to mold if you don't freeze or use refrigerated food fast enough. Is that correct?
The food from Hare-today is great (grass-fed) though coming to this side of the coast is expensive for shipping. In California I know there is quite a few raw co-ops..
Onlynaturalpet -- is located in Boulder and very reliable in their shipping. They have the Natures Logic and it looks good, no grains.... we give the Natures Variety Raw Instinct for breakfast and the raw for dinner... the raw from Hare contains tripe, bone, organs, etc., and I add about 1/4 green tripe. You give 2 - 3% of what the dog should weigh a day.
I make our dog cookies w/o grains and buy beef ribs for them to chew on along with dehydrated turkey liver and other good things. I usually buy from sitstay.com or onlynaturalpet.com.. good thing is my dogs are not fat or hyper (grains turn to sugar in dogs and it's like feeding pepsi to them to give grains) and almost never have to see a vet for anything.
A lot of people think it's difficult to feed raw, actually it's very easy... BTW Onlynaturalpet and sitstay both sell and ship Natures Variety Raw and both carry a freeze-dried raw (which is handy if you are traveling or have to have someone feed for you when you go away)...
My tinfoil hat theory is just this, but that it wasn't a test run but the real thing, since the poison did end up in the food supply. It's probably just bin-Murphy's Law that it ended up in the pet food supply instead of the human food supply.

I found several items which look excellent. Their website is so much easier to navigate than one I was trying yesterday. Plus the other one only allowed Paypal payments and I'm not comfortable with using them even though I do have a card.

They have their own manufacturing plant.
I've used EaglePack for many years, and my dogs have always thrived on it. I highly recommend it.
