Those aren't strings. They are bribes. They are the politicians way of saying we will sacrifice our 'principled stance against this war' in exchange for some money.

I'm no Bush fan but every time Reid and Pelosi open their mouthes, they simply confirm what vermin they truly are.

Bush should begin immediately shutting down Defense Contracts and Purchasing to provide funding for the surge. 90 Billion worth of Delays and Deferrals of Defense spending will send happy voters to wake the current Congress up.
Probably not possible due to McNamara's method of separately funding Defense Contracts, but who knows. This would be the best solution. To continue the funding for the most important functions of the Military and letting long term acquisitions be put on hold until the problem is resolved.

Just curious; What exactly do the Treasoncrats think will happen if we pull out premature?
This is something I`ve yet to hear from the Treasoncrats, or maybe they just don`t care?
All I ever hear from them is "withdraw withdraw withdraw, retreat retreat" but none of them talk about the result.

"Sorry men, we gotta pull back. Nancys orders."

"Ooooo! Victory!"

"Thank you Nancy for letting millions die just so you can massage your psychotic ego."

And make sure that the programs that are shut down are housed in primarily DEMOCRATIC districts.
Time to play hardball.

If she really respected the Constitutional roles then she would realize that passing a bill that tries to determine a tactical maneuver like retreat is a clear violation of the separation of powers. Her only Constitutional authorities are to declare war and fund or not fund the war.

Here's a thought: Bush should sign the bill, take the money, and write a signing statement saying he is not going to honor the withdrawal language.
He's used hundreds of signing statements in place of line-item vetos and no one has ever been able to challenge him on it. Besides, the senate withdrawal nonsense is non-binding, anyway. So, who cares?
I want the money right now for our troops. This should not be delayed.

Pelosi is America's new sweetheart. After all. Her party was voted in to lead this country. Now pay the price America.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach

"Oooo! We don`t care about millions of babies being butchered every year so why should we care about millions of adults? We Treasoncrats say withdraw and let the holocaust deniers have their way!"

"Thank you Nancy, you are all heart!"

"This war must end. The American people have lost faith in the president's conduct of the war. Let's see how we can work together," added Pelosi, D-Calif.
I am sick of these morons speaking for me.
They do not speak for the American People, only themselves.
