The 49-year-old newspaper columnist and conservative blogger, who had come from Manitoba, Canada, to become the sharp-tongued doyenne of the Los Angeles media scene, was only hours away from losing her years-long fight with cancer, leaving behind a 17-year-old daughter, a lifetime of work as a plucky and plain-speaking wordsmith, and the respect of colleagues from both sides of the political spectrum.
But what was supposed to have been a dignified end for a long-suffering single mom instead turned into what friends called a disgustingly public travesty, an example of the current Wild West atmosphere of Internet privacy issues, and a sordid showcase of just how far a beef can go.
Just hours before her death, Cathy Seipp suddenly seemed to undo decades of hard work with an oddly written letter posted on the Web site, www. cathyseipp.com. In what came off as more bizarre rant than heartfelt apology, her supposed very last blog entry called her years of journalism a shoddy, despicable and irresponsible career as a fourth-rate hack. Her political stance? All a mistake.

He probably tried to hit on Seipp's daughter and got bitter when she refused.
"the venom she'd spewed for years was responsible for her terminal cancer."
IF this was a true correlation between "venom" and cancer, Fat Rosie would have been dead long ago. Same for many of the Democratic crowd, most FemiNazis, ad nauseam.
Is Maia Cathy's daughter?!
Thankfully, no one has tracked me down to real life, but that is not unprecedented either.
I couldn't grasp it and then it sank in: they will say or do anything, and if it blows up on them all they have to do is shrug and say, "I'm sorry."
There. . .fixed it.
Yeah, and they get away with it.
You're right, of course. But, of the input I've seen on this thread, this Stein appears to have 'dropped his basket,' donchaknow! ;o)
Plenty of liberals get cancer. But of course, that's a fact, and liberals don't deal in facts. They deal solely in emotions.
The only guy they could find him was a guy from the porn industry. But Luke Ford, blogger and onetime columnist on the porn business, defended Stein's actions ".
Let me word this very carefully. It appears that he left his teaching job following an incident involving a 10th grade student.
From what I remember, that seemed to be the gist of it, although they tried to minimize what happened, most likely to protect Maia L. (Remember, she was only about 14 or 15 at the time.)
Stein's actions go beyond bad taste, and prove again what a nut he really is. It should send up warning bells to the family.
Yes.
I was going to add my two cents.
But the last sentence in your post covers it all and I agree wholeheartedly with it.
Shits such as this are not nice or decent individuals.
They need to be stood up to and whatever happens next is up to them.
I dislike Dobson. He want's to play kingmaker.
Also, it's very bad form for him to redefine Christianity as people who follow his particular sect and start claiming everyone else isnt' Christian. It's a narrow, dogmatic, bigoted view of things.
I will continue to shun and ignore everything that comes out of this man. Ditto for Fallwell, and Robinson. They are boobs and do WAY MORE to drive people away from the RNC than attract voters. McCain made a major misstep when he went to whatever school it was and sided up to them, at least with the crossover voters who had been his strongest base.
What's his DU name?
Yes, that seems to have marked the start of his obsession.
I guess Al Franken needed a new job, eh?
