It doesn't say they were Muslim. Any bets they were?

That was my first thought too. Also wondering why they were rioting? I skimmed the article, didn't read closely

The "youths" must have heard there were cars in Paris to burn.

AP stories about riots in France are like AP stories about crimes by Democrat politicians. The obvious often goes unsaid.

I'm surprised Looter Guy isn't there. Just "onlookers" and "youth". You can figure out the code.

I just read this on Foxnews:
"Youths at the station said Tuesday's clashes started when police manhandled a young person of North African origin...
[Commuter Cyril]Zidou said 'the violence had echoes of the riots in 2005. They never finished,' he said. 'It slowed down a bit, but it was never over.' "
And that, I believe, answers your question.

...A Reuters correspondent on the scene said the youths, many black or of apparently immigrant origin, threw plastic bottles, flowerpots and cans at the police, while frustrated rush hour commuters, unable to catch their trains, also milled around... From the Sydney Morning Herald
