HERITAGE FOUNDATION: "How Modern Liberals Think" U-Tube
You-Tube ^ | March 5, 2007 | Evan Sayet (video)

This is a video of a 48-minute speech plus Q&A at Heritage Foundation by Evan Sayet, a former liberal. Very insightful in explaining the leftist mindset today.

Wow! Outstanding. I listened to it once, have bookmarked it for another hearing.

After some 30 years of trying to understand the liberal mindset, this guy, a former liberal - and who better to give us an inside look on it - really spills the beans. Liberals, he says, are driven by a certain nihilist-utopianism (a sort of pseudo-progressivism). In doing so, good and evil are reversed.

He sounded almost prophetic in this regard...reminded me of the words of Isaiah, another Jew:

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

I finally came to the realization that Liberals are nihilists. Rush Limbaugh has it all wrong in saying that Liberals want power above all else. Liberals want the complete destruction of society, humans, and the planet itself.

From m-w.com:

Main Entry: ni·hil·ism Pronunciation: 'nI-(h)&-"li-z&m, 'nE- Function: noun Etymology: German Nihilismus, from Latin nihil nothing -- more at NIL

1 a : a viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and that existence is senseless and useless

b : a doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth and especially of moral truths

2 a : a doctrine or belief that conditions in the social organization are so bad as to make destruction desirable for its own sake independent of any constructive program or possibility

b capitalized : the program of a 19th century Russian party advocating revolutionary reform and using terrorism and assassination

- ni·hil·ist /-list/ noun or adjective - ni·hil·is·tic /"nI-(h)&-'lis-tik, "nE-/ adjective

Bookmarked. Ping.

The speaker discusses "capital L" Liberalism, and describes its modern incarnation as "indiscriminateness as virtue" - leading not to a lack of correlation between "Liberalism" and right but to a positive coherence between "Liberalism" and policies that are certain not to forward their stated purposes. "Liberalism" as the rejection of reason and rationality.

My own analysis of claims of "journalistic objectivity" lead ineluctably in the same direction: to claim to be objective is to claim virtue, and to shut off debate. It is sophistry, plain and simple - and Liberals actually know that, and adhere to it anyway.

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate

Wow! I'm amazed that every response to this speech has been positive. BTW, I looked and didn't find it on Drudge, although it may have been there earlier.

A few months ago, I spoke with a friend who is a successful artist (contemporary paintings), with galleries in New York and California, and successful exhibitions elsewhere. He described in detail how the ten most successful contemporary artists in the world are devoted to an anti-art, anti-Enlightenment agenda. Their method is to insist that "art is whatever I say it is," and there is a significant audience of wealthy people who are willing to pay exorbitant prices for items that discerning individuals would term "junk." Even though the artists depend upon artistic ideals to define their life work, their objective is to pull those artistic ideals down around them. They want to destroy the Enlightenment and all that has flowed from it, so that we return to the Dark Ages. How is that for what GHWB called "the vision thing?"

"Objective indiscriminateness" seems like an oxymoron that ultimately leads to irrationality (brain damage).
