It's Crazy to Nominate Giuliani
John LeBoutillier
Monday, March 26, 2007
Here is an argument to consider: Our federal government is so poorly run, so inept, and incompetent that the American voter in 2008 may opt for a tough, ruthless, red-tape-cutting quasi-dictator to get things done.
After Iraq, Katrina, and Walter Reed, some frustrated voters may have lost patience with trying to do things the "right way" and vote for someone who brags about his successes no matter how they are achieved. And that "dictator" would be the man who openly boasts about turning around New York City; cleaning it up, cutting the crime rate, cutting taxes, and restoring the best city to its rightful place: Rudy Giuliani.
Indeed, Rudy made the "trains run on time." But at what cost?
Giuliani is a ruthless, mean, manipulative political person.
Nor should we want someone who after 9/11 actively tried to delay the November elections for six months so he could remain in office longer than his elected term.
American tradition is clear: Through every type of difficulty world wars, depressions, and our own Civil War - we have always held our regularly scheduled elections. Period. But Rudy craved the post-9/11 national notoriety and didn't want to give it up, so he tried to change the length of his term by six months an unprecedented power grab.
Media and political critics are obsessed with Rudy's social liberalism and believe his pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-gay rights stances should doom him in GOP circles; so far that hasn't been the case.
What no one is yet focusing on is the man's character; he will do and say anything to get what he wants.
How is it possible that we have all just now been told this?
Answer: The Giuliani campaign did not know it until the New York Daily News dug up the records and confronted the campaign last week. Then all of a sudden they trot out a prepped Judy to fess up.
The fear inside the GOP should be, What else do we not know about these dysfunctional people? And will it come out after it is too late to stop him from being the GOP nominee? Rumors in New York political circles abound of many other women during his married years as mayor. Will that come out? And don't you just know the Democrats will have a virtual army of private eyes out digging up stuff on Giuliani and then hold it until he is the GOP nominee and then unleash it before November 2008.
The Republican Party is crazy if they nominate Giuliani. Just crazy. Sure, he made the trains run on time in New York. But that has nada to do with being president of the United States.
There is "getting things done." And then there is "getting things done" the correct way.
Let us hope that in our national frustration over the incompetence of the Bush presidency we don't carom over into the thinking that we need even more arrogance, hubris, corner-cutting, Constitution-abrogating and tradition-shunning.
Instead, what we need is honesty, openness, and straight-talking about the many serious problems besetting our nation.
All of which are lacking in the present field of candidates in both parties.
How anyone could trust a man who can't stay faithful to his wife and has repeatedly shown he will attempt subvert the law and Constitution to get what he wants is beyond my ability to comprehend.
RINO Rudy's campaign promises are no better than Slick Willie's were.
I wanna know why he doesn't have a stance on "illegal immigration" or "immigration" on his campaign website.
Nobody cares?
Keep feeding it...

I like it. I've had enough of "reaching across the isle" bipartisan bullshit.
I gotta admit, that's one of the reasons I like him.
"Giuliani is a ruthless, mean, manipulative political person."
I don't think it's necessary for a president to be "nice."
flashbunny has lots of Rudy quotes on her about me page here on FR, check it out.
Sorry, that's what I want now. I don't want another mealy mouthed, nice Republican who gets steamrolled by the Dems. I don't want another person who says one thing and does another. I want a mean, manipulative political person because they're the only kind who ever get things done these days.
As long as he does the right thing--which he certainly did while he was Mayor of New York--that's exactly what we need.
Q: What's the trouble with President Bush?
A: He's too damned nice. Not a single veto for more than four years. Constantly nice to the clintons, the kennedys, and the other scum who constantly took advantage of him. Constantly letting the press ride all over him. Constantly letting his enemies set the political agenda. Perpetually leaving his enemies--and enemies of our country--in key positions in his administration. Constantly letting the Democrats run all the investigations and the prosecutions even though he had the necessary majorities to put his own people in charge.
We don't need more nice. We need mean. Giuliani has other problems that need to be confronted, but being mean isn't one of them. We need somebody who can fight back, kick the press in the face, throw the mob in jail, reform the welfare system, put the tax guzzlers in their places.
There are other issues, certainly, but being mean is not one of them.
I'll be voting for him...
I like Rudy and may vote for him. I also like Fred Thompson and may vote for him if he runs, or Humter or Romney. I will mke up my mind when they are out campaigning when it is closer to the GOP nomination. Not today and not being swayed by any freeper.
Love him, hate him or be indifferent, but there's enough out there where you don't have to make up crap like this.
9/11 was the day of the Democrat and Republican primaries (in case anyone forgot, Herman Badillo was abandoned by the GOP but still ran against Bloomberg). Those elections were canceled and rescheduled. The November election happened in November.
What Rudy did was to suggest that he stay on after the usual inauguration date to make for an easier transition. And believe it or not, MOST OF THE CANDIDATES saw this as a good idea at the time. In fact, Fernando Ferrer's sole opposition to it is what finally catapulted his standings -- before he lost a runoff to Mark Green.
By the way, think about this for a moment: the 9/11 elections were cancelled, and had to be rescheduled. That also meant that any date for any RUNOFF elections had to be cancelled and rescheduled. And the winner of the RUNOFF election needed time to prepare for the Mayoral election. What good is a runoff that is, say, 3 days before the citywide election. So it would've actually made sense for anyone to have suggested postponing the election. But nobody did seriously.
John, you can argue what you believe his reasons and underlying motives might be, but get the frickin' facts straight.
Another idiotic rant from the Boot.
A "ruthless, mean, manipulative" president -- if he's a Republican -- is exactly what we need. We've had the exact opposite for the last six years and it hasn't worked out too well.
he is only as good as anybody buy Hillary
thats it
thats the only value
so lets hope that it does not come to that where you choose
who is less worse for you
he is only as good as anybody but Hillary
thats it
thats the only value
so lets hope that it does not come to that where you choose
who is less worse for you
I don't think he will get the nod, even though the MSM would like him to.
This Frenchman sounds like he's full of it. I'm not a Giuliani fan and hope he doesn't get the nomination but Jean LeBoutillier is over-the-top full of crap.
Nope. Not till JimRob puts Fred Thompson on it.
