BATON ROUGE, La. -- U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany endorsed Rudy Giuliani in the 2008 presidential race on Monday, joining U.S. Sen. David Vitter among Louisiana Republicans backing the former New York City mayor.
Boustany, R-Lafayette, cited the New York Republican's position on national security, "protecting our families," low taxes and government efficiency as issues that qualify him for the presidency, according to a news release from the Giuliani campaign. A Boustany spokesman confirmed the endorsement.
Vitter, R-Metairie, is Giuliani's regional campaign chairman for the South.
I take it Louisiana republicans are a lot like New York republicans - in any other part of the country they would be called democrats?
No, Louisiana Republicans are quite different from NY Republicans.

This reminds me of the 1996 Dole campaign. He's the only one who can win! He's the only one who can win!
how about the endorsement of..... mayor of Detroit....or Congressman from east LA....or better yet I'll wait and see who the New York Times says is the most qualified...cause golly gee, they know what's best....
Endorsements don't make his record go away.
Rudy needs solid support in the south.
In 1996, NONE of them were able to win so there wasn't much of a choice.
